Your first pick for CU's record for the 2025 season ...
  • 7-8 wins. The Buffs are reloading, not rebuilding. There will be a learning curve for Ju Ju Lewis, and stars need to be replaced, but I have faith that six wins is no longer the ceiling, but the floor (56%, 162 Votes)
  • 9 wins or more. CU has seven home games next year, and an overall favorable schedule. CU went from four wins to nine, and I can see the upward trajectory continuing in 2025 (31%, 90 Votes)
  • 4-6 wins. BYU exposed CU's weaknesses, especially along the offensive line. Without Shedeur and Travis, it's likely the Buffs are going to take a step back, with a bowl bid once again the goal (13%, 37 Votes)

No. 17 BYU 36, No. 20 Colorado 14. Thoughts?
  • An embarrassing rout on national television. No way to explain away CU's poor preparation. CU's weaknesses, especially its offensive line, were exposed. The score could have been even worse (53%, 159 Votes)
  • Give BYU its due. The Cougars were 9-0 and No. 6 in the nation two months ago. BYU had a great game plan, and a solid defense. Buff fans should tip their cap and move on (30%, 89 Votes)
  • It will be interesting to see how this affects the 2025 season. Many quality players are moving on. Can Coach Prime take advantage of the Transfer Portal and get the Buffs back to nine wins? I hope so (17%, 53 Votes)

It's time! Your prediction for the 2024 Alamo Bowl, No. 20 CU v. No. 17 BYU (ABC, 5:30 p.m., MT)
  • BYU is a very solid team, and this is going to be one of the better bowl games of the season. It's going to go back and forth, but the Buffs will pull it out with a close win (45%, 100 Votes)
  • Coach Prime won't want his sons (including Travis) to go out with a loss. The Buffs are going to be focused and prepared. I'm going to enjoy the Buffs posting win No. 10 in style (39%, 86 Votes)
  • Without Naikai Hill-Green, the linebacker corps is thin, and the Cougars have a running quarterback. The "River Walk Curse" could well strike again, with CU falling to 0-4 in Alamo Bowls (16%, 36 Votes)

Which factoid about the CU/BYU Alamo Bowl matchup to you in the most surprising?
  • That, despite a disparity in how the offenses are run (CU gaining 82% of its yards through the air; BYU 60/40) that the two teams are only two yards apart (4,771-4,769) in total offense for the season (57%, 56 Votes)
  • That, despite being in three conferences together over the years, the two teams have met only 12 times (with CU holding an 8-3-1 advantage), with only one regular season game since 1947 (30%, 30 Votes)
  • That before this season, there has been only one game between the two teams with one team ranked (1981, when Ty Detmer and Steve Young teamed up to smoke the Buffs, 41-20) (13%, 13 Votes)

Offensive lineman Akinola Ogunbiyi and defensive back Tawfiq Byard the latest transfers to join the Herd. Thoughts?
  • These are two solid pickups, and in positions where depth is always a plus. Ogunbiyi comes from a top-level program (Alabama), while Byard has three years of eligibility remaining (46%, 93 Votes)
  • Way too early to know, much less care, about these transfers. CU has a dozen transfers on its list, with another dozen (or two) to come. Wake me when the roster is finalized in August (44%, 89 Votes)
  • Not super excited, to be honest. Ogunbiyi is coming in with one year to play after being a career backup, while Byard was a fair-to-middling safety for a fair-to-middling program (USF) (10%, 19 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
