The Sporting News rates Coach Prime as the No. 9 head coach in the Big 12 (No. 39 in the nation). Thoughts?
  • How easily we forget. Coach Prime took over a 1-11 team (that wasn't even THAT good). His job in turning CU into a nine-win team in two seasons is a feat few coaches could match. He's a Top 25 coach (58%, 73 Votes)
  • At the end of the day, Coach Prime is still 13-12 as an FBS head coach. It's going to take several more winning seasons to change opinions. Go 9-4 the next few seasons, and minds will change (24%, 30 Votes)
  • I can see the No. 39 national ranking, as Coach Prime has to have some more time and success to climb that ladder. But 9th in the Big 12? That's too low (18%, 22 Votes)

CU picks up commitments from linebacker Carson Crawford and safety D'Montae Tims. Thoughts?
  • Let's see ... Two prospects in positions of need? Check. From competitive schools in football states? Check. With Power Four offers? Check. Welcome to the Black and Gold, gentlemen! (51%, 71 Votes)
  • I'm just glad to see movement in the Recruiting Class - three new members in the past week. Nice to see quality additions - and to see that Coach Prime & Co. are working on next season and beyond (38%, 53 Votes)
  • In the past, two three-star prospects with Power Four offers would have been stars of the Class. Now, they're just okay. With small freshman Classes, CU needs to have plug-and-play freshmen (11%, 15 Votes)

Coach Prime: "I'm not here to talk about my health. I'm here to talk about my team". Thoughts?
  • I'm just glad to see Coach Prime take the podium without effort, and take on the media with his usual aplomb. After two months out of the spotlight, it's nice to have him back (67%, 116 Votes)
  • Sounds good to me. His health is his personal business. If he is at the Big 12 Media Days and fulfilling his obligations, there is nothing for the media to pursue (17%, 30 Votes)
  • I understand the right to privacy, but Coach Prime is being paid millions. "Are there any health issues which could impact your ability to coach your team?" is a legitimate question (16%, 26 Votes)

CU's latest commit, Xavier Payne, is a 6’7″, 300-pound offensive lineman (and former Florida State commit). Thoughts?
  • Love his size. Love his offer sheet. Love the fact that he is already bonding with Jordan Seaton. Bookend tackles in 2026? I like the sound of that (66%, 93 Votes)
  • Last year at this time, CU only had four commits, yet finished with 14 (including 7 four-stars). CU currently has six commits ... Coach Prime & staff are doing fine (30%, 43 Votes)
  • Nice that Payne had multiple offers from Power Four conferences, but he is still rated as a three-star prospect by all of the services ... Are we missing something here? (4%, 5 Votes)

Offensive tackle Jordan Seaton and cornerback DJ McKinney named first-team All-Big 12. Thoughts?
  • Very good news. Seaton is a true sophomore, and is already a team leader (and All-American candidate), while McKinney will help end the "Buffs won't be able to defend without Travis" talk (69%, 77 Votes)
  • Nice to have two Buffs mentioned, but the balance of the offensive and defensive first-team selections show how tough CU's schedule will be this fall (22%, 24 Votes)
  • I'm just glad they decided to trash the media poll (Utah 1st; CU 11th; Arizona State 16th last season). A preseason media poll would have been a nationwide joke, regardless of who they picked (9%, 10 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
