What would you think of CU, Utah, Arizona State and Arizona joining the Big 12 to form 16-team conference?
  • It only makes sense if the Pac-12 implodes. If Oregon and Washington abandon the Pac-12 for the Big Ten, then an escape to the Big 12 might be the last best place for CU to land (65%, 191 Votes)
  • I like it. With BYU already joining, CU could be in a pod with the Kansas schools and perhaps Iowa State or Oklahoma State - just like the good old days of the Big Eight (27%, 79 Votes)
  • I don't like it. There was a (good) reason why CU left the midwestern conference in the first place. It wasn't a good fit back then, and it wouldn't be a good fit now (8%, 25 Votes)

If CU is "relegated" to a diluted Pac-12, or some other not-in-the-running-for-a-national-championship conference, will it affect your fandom?
  • We'll see. l would like to see CU have a realistic path to the national title, but we'll have to see where CU is playing in 2024 before I'll decide my future level of interest (46%, 116 Votes)
  • No. It may hurt to have CU out of the big leagues, but being in a conference in which CU can be competitive would be a refreshing change from what we have now (40%, 101 Votes)
  • Yes. CU spent the last century-plus as one of the top 25 teams in the nation. If CU is no longer playing with the big boys, I'm not longer interested in the program (14%, 36 Votes)

If you had your choice, in what conference would CU be playing in 2024?
  • Probably the best bet would be to get an invite to the Big 12, along with the other mountain schools, to be part of a new Big 16 (39%, 99 Votes)
  • I'm still holding out hope for the Buffs to make it into a Big Ten Conference with 18-24 teams, and still play in the deep end of the college football pool (37%, 94 Votes)
  • Time to "embrace the suck" and head off to the Mountain West. CU won't be relevant nationally, but will have renewed interest locally with annual games against CSU, AFA and Wyoming (12%, 31 Votes)
  • CU should play in a "new and improved" Pac-12 or Pac-16. Adding in San Diego State, Boise State, or BYU (?). It wouldn't get a big TV deal, but would still be a national player (12%, 31 Votes)

USC and UCLA off to make their (hundreds of) millions in the Big Ten. Thoughts on the latest expansion bombshell?
  • Let's take a few breaths before we call this a calamity. I'm not sure where CU will end up in all of this, but it may turn out that a revamped Pac-12/14/16 or Big 12/14/16 may be a better fit for CU (62%, 206 Votes)
  • Once again (as was the case with the move to the Pac-12), CU is in a down cycle with expansion on the horizon. CU will be left standing when the music stops ... and has only itself to blame (31%, 104 Votes)
  • I'm glad that the big boys are getting together. Hopefully, this will mean that the rest of college football (the other 100 or so teams not in the mega conferences) can get on with playing football (7%, 22 Votes)

Do you agree that perhaps the best way to save college football is through the appointment of strong commissioner?
  • I'd like to see it, but I can't see it happening. The top 24-36 schools should just go off and form their semi-pro league, and let the rest of the country get back to college football (57%, 93 Votes)
  • Yes. The NCAA is dead, and no rules are regulations are being enforced. Another governing body won't work - college football needs a strong leader who actually has authority to enforce rules (32%, 52 Votes)
  • No. That would just be another band-aid. The NCAA already has rules on NIL and inducement, but isn't enforcing them. Schools which are benefitting from the chaos won't be willing to give up power (11%, 18 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
