CU At The Game Podcast – Spring Practices Primer: Names to Listen for; Questions Which Need to Be Answered

Are you ready for some football? Okay, are you at least ready for the Buffs to don pads for the first time in the Deion Sanders era?

The Buffs are opening spring practices with 96 scholarship players, already 11 over the maximum allowed come August, so competition for roster spots over the next five weeks will be intense. I am joined for this podcast by Brad Geiger and Neil Langland, and we will go through each unit of the roster, asking two questions: Who are the names CU fans should be listening for when the coaches talk with the press?; and Which questions about the roster and depth chart should the Buff Nation expect to have answered this spring?

Pretty much everything Coach Prime has done since taking over the Buffs in December has moved the program forward, and CU fans will be expecting great things this spring. This primer will give you the names and position battles to keep an eye on as we work toward the nationally televised Spring game on April 22nd.

What do you need to know in order to impress your fellow Buff fans with your knowledge of all things CU?

  1. Great pod cast. Also surprised but not surprised about the comment from OBoyle about strength on o line. I think you guys are right about the transition from flexibility to more strength related program. We might get a sr se of this if all tme transfers are throwing the e siting players around in the spring game. Sami, Reed in nickel, Woods (maybe). I am excited to see who steps up in ILB. The transfer in is locked down unless injury but who will step up. I dark horse is Kerry……. Just a gut feeling. I want Mister Williams to work out but just didn’t see it last year when I watched him. The wide reciever room and the defensive backs room is going to hemorrhage players after the spring game. Tight ends will be down to 2 or 3 max. We will carry extra on d line and online. Ilb is going to lose 1, maybe 2.

  2. Great show boys. We have about another month before we see a max exodus. Once a lot of these players see they aren’t in the two deep, or regulated to practice squad they will leave. Hopefully everything goes smooth

  3. To be sure the QB depth is a real issue. Hoping to be surprised by Staub. Its not all that rare anymore for teams that find a freshman that can play.
Not skeered about the running back room like you guys are. If Stacks is willing to be a blocking fullback in a 2 back set to help out the O line to keep Sanders healthy. The O line I am still a little skeered of but not as much as the D line. Dont have your optimism there until I see improvement.
When you were talking about the TEs and the miserable accompanying coaching I agree there should be a few guys, with the linebackers as well that will blossom under this staff and their schemes
