Which addition to the Buff Nation this weekend are you most excited about?
  • Senior transfer point guard Mason Faulkner. The Buffs biggest need for the 2021-22 season was a replacement at point guard for McKinley Wright ... and Tad Boyle may have just found his man (51%, 155 Votes)
  • Freshman offensive lineman Noah Fenske. Iowa develops quality linemen, and Fenske comes to CU with four years of eligibility remaining. He may not start in 2021, but he is a welcome addition (35%, 105 Votes)
  • Freshman tight end Austin Smith. How can you not get excited about a 6'5", 220-pounder who can run an 11.01 in the 100? Coaches wouldn't have signed him if they didn't see something special (14%, 42 Votes)

CU picks up a transfer offensive lineman from Iowa, Noah Fenske. Thoughts?
  • A quality offensive lineman with size (6'5", 295-pounds) with four years to play four? And in a position of need? Nice pickup! (60%, 153 Votes)
  • CU has now added two scholarship players in the past two days - to a roster which is already over the 88-scholarship limit. May will be an interesting month for the CU roster ... (30%, 76 Votes)
  • No offense, but Fenske was a backup at Iowa. Any reason to believe that he won't be a backup at CU? Trusting the coaches, but not breaking out the champagne, either (10%, 24 Votes)

CU picks up a late Class of 2021 commitment from Texas tight end Austin Smith. Thoughts?
  • I guess we're going to have to trust the coaches on this one. Guess we'll see which tight ends are asked to leave, and hope Mr. Smith is an upgrade (53%, 128 Votes)
  • A chiseled 6'5", 220-pound tight end from Texas who runs an 11.01 in the 100? What's not to like? Welcome to the Black-and-Gold, Mr. Smith! (31%, 75 Votes)
  • Are you kidding me? The Buffs are already over the limit on scholarships, and have 12 (count 'em, 12) tight ends on the roster. Hard to figure how/why CU would want a late two-star tight end (16%, 40 Votes)

CU Quarterbacks coach Danny Langsdorf: "I think we have three really capable guys, maybe four ... We're going to have awesome competition". Thoughts?
  • I just hope that the competition produces a clear winner by mid-August, so that CU can enter the 2021 season with a clear direction - and a clear leader under center (68%, 164 Votes)
  • I very excited about this year's quarterbacks room. I'm not sure who will win the quarterback battle, but the competition should give Buff fans their best signal caller in years (22%, 53 Votes)
  • "If a coach says they have two quarterbacks, what they are really saying is that they don't have any". What does it mean when they say they have "three or four"? Concerned ... (10%, 23 Votes)

Is giving CSU a home-and-home series (rather than a 2-for-1) a bad look for the Buffs?
  • No. There is no way that CU should be playing all P-5 schools in non-conference games, and CSU (and Air Force) are the best ways to a sell out at Folsom, and the rivalry creates local media interest (52%, 108 Votes)
  • Yes. Giving a G-5 school equal footing is a bad look for any P-5 school. CSU needs CU more than CU needs CSU. Rick George should have held out for a better deal, or walked away from the series (26%, 54 Votes)
  • Not sure. It would be nice to have a 2-for-1 deal with CSU, but was it even possible? Schools without an 80,000-100,000-seat capacity really aren't usually in position to demand 2-for-1 deals (22%, 45 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
