One author lists the Air Force game as CU's "trap game". What game would you list as CU's trap game?
  • Air Force. I agree with the author. Sandwiched between Nebraska and the start of Pac-12 play, Plus, the Falcons are difficult to prepare for, and come after a physical game against the Cornhuskers (52%, 126 Votes)
  • Colorado State. After four straight wins in the series, and the Rams coming off of a 3-9 season, it's possible the Buffs will look past the Rams and forward to the Cornhuskers (26%, 63 Votes)
  • Arizona. The only home game between road games against ASU, Oregon and Washington State, the Wildcats will have the appearance as the easiest game in that stretch (22%, 54 Votes)

Laviska Shenault and Mustafa Johnson named first-team All-Pac-12 (Athlon). Thoughts?
  • Nice honors for the pair, and good to see seven Buffs overall make Athlon preseason teams. A sign of good times to come (49%, 112 Votes)
  • Preseason polls and rankings mean little, though it was nice to see that CU had as many first-teamers as USC and Arizona, and more than Arizona State (1) and UCLA (0) from the South (30%, 68 Votes)
  • Not sure about future value, but considering CU didn't have any first-team preseason Pac-12 picks by Athlon last year, having two this season is progress (21%, 50 Votes)

Which Kelli Brooks quote do you like the best?
  • On retaining loyalties to CSU: "No. Not at all. Obviously I am thankful for my degree from CSU but my football allegiance is 1,000,000% with the Buffs" (38%, 80 Votes)
  • “With my endowment, I am hoping to help those who come after me. If my legacy can have a positive impact on the student athletes on the CU football team, I will be happy” (33%, 70 Votes)
  • “I’ve loved CU football since I was a little kid. I named my first dog after Ralphie. I’ve just really loved the program" (29%, 63 Votes)

CU athletic director posts a tweet: "The largest endowment in CU Football History". Thoughts?
  • Thank you, thank you, thank you, Kelli Brooks! The Buff Nation salutes you and sings your praises!! (48%, 103 Votes)
  • I'm just excited to see if this optimism filled off-season carries over onto the field this fall. Thank you, Ms. Brooks, for your continued support of the Buffs! (37%, 80 Votes)
  • Sound great, but no details have been forthcoming. I'm a Buff fan, which makes me cautious and skeptical by nature. Let's see the details before we break out the champagne (15%, 33 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
