The Mel Tucker from the CBS article which I like best is:
  • "When you leave the stadium, you want people to say, 'Those guys are smart. Those are winners. They're in great condition. They play with passion.'" (61%, 136 Votes)
  • "I had all these boxes, and Colorado just kept checking the boxes," Tucker said. "Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. It was an easy decision" (34%, 76 Votes)
  • "How many places are they THE program in the state and you have a strong in-state recruiting base?" (5%, 12 Votes)

Tad Boyle: "There's two kinds of teams this time of year. There's teams that are preparing for postseason, there's teams that are preparing for spring break" - which is CU?
  • The Buffs are preparing for post-season. CU is 16-11, with three home games to play before the Pac-12 tournament. A 20-win season - and an NIT bid - are in sight (62%, 125 Votes)
  • The Buffs are preparing for spring break. If you watched the Buffs play the last two games, it's not hard to see a few losses in the next few weekends, a finish just over .500, and no post-season (38%, 77 Votes)

Which College Football News Pac-12 South win total prediction seems to be too optimistic?
  • UCLA ... 7.5 wins. Let's see - a 3-9 record last year + a down recruiting year = over twice as many wins? I'm not seeing it (44%, 106 Votes)
  • USC ... 8.0 wins. The Trojans were 5-7 last year, and have been a dumpster fire this off-season. Look for another losing record ... and a new head coach (24%, 58 Votes)
  • Arizona State ... 7.0 wins. Herm Edwards got to seven wins last year with a senior-laden team. He won't have that kind of roster to rely upon this fall (20%, 49 Votes)
  • Utah ... 8.5 wins. The Utes won the South last year, but wont' repeat this year (12%, 27 Votes)

Proposal: Pac-12 and Big 12 teams play each other exclusively in non-conference action. Thoughts?
  • Never gonna happen. Too many teams like/need seven home games, and two non-conference home games. The math won't work (56%, 155 Votes)
  • Like it ... but only if other Power-Five conferences also go for exclusive Power-Five non-conference games. Otherwise, the other conferences will have a decided advantage in getting to the Playoffs (24%, 67 Votes)
  • Love the idea. CU taking on old Big 12 foes like Texas and Oklahoma instead of CU taking on CSU and New Hampshire? I'm all in! (20%, 57 Votes)

Arizona head coach Sean Miller to be subpoenaed to testify in NCAA federal fraud case. Thoughts?
  • Not news. Sure, Miller will testify, deny everything, and the NCAA will look the other way. Sorry, but Miller is teflon, and every scandal bounces off of him (36%, 71 Votes)
  • Great news! I'm glad that Miller will have to take the stand. Miller time in Tucson is - finally - counting down (35%, 70 Votes)
  • I don't care if Miller is at Arizona or not for the 2019-20 season. What I am concerned about is the fact that Arizona has the No. 1 recruiting Class. Will that hold if Miller gets the boot? (29%, 58 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
