Travis Hunter wins the 2024 Heisman Trophy. Thoughts?
  • An incredible journey by an incredible athlete. We have been so blessed to be able to watch Travis Hunter wear the black-and-gold. A great day for the Buff Nation! (68%, 212 Votes)
  • So happy for Travis, and for the CU football program. Coach Prime said he was bringing his Louis to Boulder, and he wasn't lying. Thank you, coach, for bringing great players to Boulder (23%, 71 Votes)
  • I'm already looking forward to seeing what the Champions Center Legacy Hall will look like. This will have a long lasting impact on the program. The future just got that much brighter! (9%, 28 Votes)

Rate your level of confidence that Travis Hunter will win the Heisman trophy Saturday night
  • High to Very High. Travis has been winning most of the national awards, and is ahead on every poll of voters. It would be a huge upset at this point if Travis didn't win (63%, 165 Votes)
  • Medium to High. I don't want to jinx anything, but Ashton Jeanty did win the Maxwell Award, and Travis wasn't a Thorpe finalist, so you never know. The dislike for CU can't be underestimated (27%, 71 Votes)
  • I know it's a huge week for Colorado football, but if I'm being honest, I just want to get this over with. I'm about as nervous as I am before a CU game ... fingers crossed!! (10%, 24 Votes)

Two Big 12 coaching changes; two coaches returning to old haunts (Scott Frost to UCF; Rich Rodriguez to West Virginia). Thoughts?
  • Makes sense. Both Frost (national champions in 2017, just ask him!) and Rich Rod had success in their prior stints - why not try to go back to the future and recreate prior success? (38%, 75 Votes)
  • Both look good to me compared to North Carolina hiring Bill Belichick. That hire has "Herm Edwards II" written all over it. Tough days ahead for the Tar Heels (36%, 71 Votes)
  • Really bad mistakes by both programs (not that I am complaining). There could be an early bump for both UCF and West Virginia, but in the long run ... I'm predicting disasters in the making (26%, 49 Votes)

Which of the following news stories from the past day or so to you is the most impressive?
  • Former CU cornerback Deon Figures enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame. We've known this day was coming, but having the 11th Buff enshrined is a great story (40%, 94 Votes)
  • Travis Hunter repeats at the Paul Hornung Award winner, given to the most versatile player in the nation. An easy choice, but being the first repeat winner makes it special (33%, 78 Votes)
  • CU received a commitment from freshman kicker Elliott Arnold. Not sure if he can kick the ball out of the end zone, but I'm sure that was one of the criterion CU was looking for in its next kicker (27%, 62 Votes)

Which unit to you is the highest priority for CU as the Transfer Portal season opens?
  • Linebackers. The Buffs were thin at linebacker this year, but were lucky that there were few injuries. This program may be an elite linebacker or two away from true title contention next fall (43%, 129 Votes)
  • Offensive line. Most everyone returns, but the line is still in need of both quantity and quality. Can't wait to see CU have a rushing attack in 2025! (39%, 119 Votes)
  • Defensive line. The most improved unit this year. CU did well with additions from the Portal last off-season, and will need to do so again this off-season (18%, 54 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
