CU receives a commitment from three-star defensive back Jamari Holliman from Miami. Thoughts?
  • It seems that, once again, we're having to trust the coaching staff. By the time Signing Day rolls around, we'll have a better idea on how the Dorrell era will proceed. So, for now, welcome Jamari! (41%, 91 Votes)
  • Nice speed (11.2 in the 100), nice size (6'1"), from a competitive region (Miami), and a good attitude: "I feel I will be a dual-threat DB". I like this recruit! (31%, 68 Votes)
  • I hate to sound like a broken record here, but, once again, CU has picked up a recruit from a hotbed of talent (Miami) without a single Power Five offer other than CU. Sigh! (28%, 61 Votes)

Which quote from offensive coordinator Mike Sanford to you was the most interesting?
  • "There are some guys that were starting to emerge in a role in the spring and now you see them taking a stranglehold on a role. (Receiver) Daniel Arias stands out to me as a guy that really emerged" (40%, 73 Votes)
  • "It is not going to be a quick leash, we want to name a QB starter, but the other guy is not going to hold a clipboard the whole year, right? Because they are both extremely talented players" (34%, 61 Votes)
  • "The base offense is in. The base offense was really in during the spring in terms of being able to get to the concepts and the schemes that I wanted to get to. Now it is about window dressing" (26%, 48 Votes)

Which Karl Dorrell quote from CU's first practice of Fall Camp to you is the most encouraging?
  • "I've had a lot of comments from the players offensively just saying they're excited about the system and how it works, how we have answers, how we can get to the best play, how we can go fast" (54%, 107 Votes)
  • "They're showing a level of maturity I haven't seen since I've been here. They'll be able to handle that piece better about having fast starts and then kind of being erratic in the middle" (34%, 67 Votes)
  • "B-Lew looks solid. Really good presence, good command ... J.T. was excited because he had his first full practice … He made a play today and got all excited, 'Oh man, I love football.'" (12%, 25 Votes)

CU's Strength of Schedule (81-71, 53.3%) rated 60th in the nation. Thoughts?
  • I guess that belies the narrative that CU can't win this year because the schedule is too hard. "No excuses" applies here - get out there and win some games, Buffs! (44%, 84 Votes)
  • Anyone else wish CU had UCLA's schedule (63-85, 42.6%; 129th nationally)? Bruins guaranteed a 3-0 non-conference record - that's where "Strength of Schedule" should be measured (40%, 77 Votes)
  • Last year's stats include a 4-8 USC team and a 4-8 Washington team - two teams CU has to play on the road in back-to-back games in November. Anyone want to put those in the "gimme" column for CU? (16%, 30 Votes)

Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff: "Let's be very clear. No Pac-12 team is joining the Big 12". Thoughts?
  • What else was he supposed to say? He can't stop the disintegration of his conference, but has to sound like he's got it under control. Nice quotable quote, but that's about it (55%, 118 Votes)
  • I like it. A Commissioner who is willing to push back a little and speak up for the conference. Now, let's see him make it a reality ... and bring home a media rights deal to keep the Pac-12 together (31%, 66 Votes)
  • Well, technically there is no "Pac-12" at this point, so if there is a defection, Kliavkoff's statement is still correct. It may not happen until the end of the season, but it will happen (14%, 32 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
