What's been the best news so far in this busy week for CU and its fans?
  • That CU received a commitment from Houston transfer running back Alton McCaskill. The running back room needed a strong, experienced back ... and they got one! (67%, 197 Votes)
  • That CU received a commitment from four-star athlete Aaron Butler ... one of the highest-rated high school recruit in school history! (20%, 58 Votes)
  • That Fox Sports has announced that the CU opener at TCU will be a part of its "Big Noon Saturday" production. Not bad for a 1-11 team! (13%, 37 Votes)

CU receives a commitment from Recruiting Class of 2024 four-star athlete Aaron Butler. Thoughts?
  • I love this commit, but: a) It's a long time between now and Signing Day in December; and b) Butler has already flipped once before (he was a USC commit in January). Fingers crossed he sticks (42%, 128 Votes)
  • The next Travis Hunter? Or perhaps the next Cormani McClain? A top ten California recruit, Butler would be the 13th-highest rated CU signee in the past 20 years! Welcome, Mr. Butler! (41%, 125 Votes)
  • Hate to sound ungrateful, but CU can only play so many cornerbacks/wide receivers at a time. Love this four-star commit - would really love to get a four-star offensive lineman (17%, 54 Votes)

CU season opener at TCU selected for Fox Sports "Big Noon Saturday". Thoughts?
  • Only the third Pac-12 team to ever get this slot. I am continuously amazed at the pull of Coach Prime. Okay, ESPN, you're next - Game Day at Folsom for the Nebraska game! (50%, 147 Votes)
  • Love it!! Coach Prime said he was comin', and Fox is buying what CU is selling. Great for the players; great for recruiting. Go get 'em, Buffs - prove the haters wrong! (34%, 100 Votes)
  • I like CU getting the publicity, but I'm a bit wary. The line has gone from 17.5 points to 20.5 ... Hate to see the Coach Prime era kickoff with a blowout loss. Sorry, but this could backfire (16%, 47 Votes)

Which of the following "By the Numbers" statistic gives you the most hope for the 2023 season?
  • That the incoming players had more than double the number of Power Five offers (530 to 251) than did the players who have left the program (36%, 105 Votes)
  • That of the 62 incoming players, 15 were either four- or five-star prospects, while none of the 55 players leaving were four- or five-star prospects (35%, 102 Votes)
  • That CU's new defensive backfield has two five-star prospects and four four-star prospects (and that doesn't count three-star starter Trevor Woods). CU's defensive backfield is going to be great! (29%, 82 Votes)

Group of Five coaches concerned about poaching of players by Power Five conference schools. Rate your level of concern:
  • Medium. The system is certainly broken, but CU is now (finally) playing in the greener pastures. Let's enjoy being in the country club for awhile, now that Coach Prime is in Boulder (62%, 164 Votes)
  • High. Just as CU might get a player from a G5 school, it's just as likely that a quality Buff (e.g., Christian Gonzalez; Mekhi Blackmon) will flee Boulder. They system is out of control (27%, 73 Votes)
  • Low. If the "have's" now includes CU, and the "have nots" include Colorado State, then all is right with the world. Let Ft. Collins et al. be a feeder for the new and improved Buffs! (11%, 29 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
