CU receives positive comments from what Coach Prime called an "epic weekend". Was the commitment-less weekend worth it?
  • Totally. There were over four dozen of the top recruits in the nation, in Boulder, checking out CU. There will be commitments out of this group, I have no doubt (53%, 164 Votes)
  • I guess we'll find out. I'm just happy that CU is now competing with the likes of Texas A&M for recruits, instead North Texas. It's a brave new world for CU, and I'm just enjoying the ride (42%, 130 Votes)
  • Perhaps. I guess this is the way the game is played these days, but these recruits will have plenty of other big-time suitors. I hope CU isn't overreaching, and missing out on signable recruits (5%, 16 Votes)

Which of the following CU stories of the weekend to you was the most disappointing?
  • That the CU men's basketball team was winless on the road against the same Oregon teams they dominated at home. A 4-8 Pac-12 record? Frustrating, to say the least (59%, 173 Votes)
  • That the much-hyped "Elite Underclassmen" weekend didn't net a single new commitment. I understand that this was a weekend to build relationships, but a commitment or two would have been nice (27%, 80 Votes)
  • That the CU women's basketball team followed up an exciting overtime win over No. 14 UCLA with a 71-54 loss to unranked USC. A chance to make a huge jump in the national rankings was lost (14%, 39 Votes)

West Coast Sports has ranked the Pac-12 coaches, with Coach Prime coming in at No. 7. Where would you rank Coach Prime?
  • Middle third. I have confidence in Coach Prime, but there are some quality coaches in the Pac-12. CU needs to post some winning records and wins over Pac-12 elite teams before Coach Prime will move up (49%, 129 Votes)
  • Top third. Coach Prime is 27-6 as a head coach, and has shown no signs that he doesn't plan on being successful from Day One at CU. The nation will find out this fall (42%, 110 Votes)
  • Lower third. I trust that Coach Prime will turn things around, but this will not be a quick fix. You can't turn the Titanic on a dime. We'll see if Coach Prime is up to the challenge (9%, 23 Votes)

What are your expectations for CU's first "Elite Underclassmen Weekend" under Coach Prime?
  • Medium. It's an important event to build relationships, but if CU were to pickup a few commitments and continue the momentum, I would be more than pleased (56%, 150 Votes)
  • High. There are a reported 54 underclassmen on campus this weekend. It would be a disappointment if Coach Prime didn't land a number of top recruits from the future Classes (32%, 86 Votes)
  • Low. Even if there are commitments, the Class of '24 is 11 months away from Signing Day; the Class of '25 is 23 months away. Not much that will happen this weekend will hold all the way to December (12%, 34 Votes)

Start Date: January 27, 2023 @ 4:39 pm
End Date: No Expiry

Which would you rather see as the first nationally featured game for Coach Prime and the 2023 Buffs?
  • Any reason it can't be both? CU at TCU will garner national attention, and if the Buffs can beat the Horned Frogs (or even be competitive), Coach Prime's first home game will be must see TV (64%, 185 Votes)
  • CU v. Nebraska. Two new coaches; a sold out frenzied crowd; and a renewed rivalry. Sounds like a perfect formula for the return of GameDay (provided CU fans don't sell their tickets to Husker fans) (25%, 71 Votes)
  • CU at TCU. First weekend, without many marquee games on the schedule. TCU won't be the No. 2 team in the nation this fall, so the CU can make an immediate splash on the national scene (11%, 32 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
