Ten-year NFL veteran Adalius Thomas joins CU's staff as a defensive analyst. Thoughts?
  • Very good news. Let's see, CU desperately needs to get better defensive line play, and now has Hall-of-Famer Warren Sapp and All-Pro Adalius Thomas helping out? Nice addition (41%, 61 Votes)
  • All I know is that the 2024 season opener is now less than three months away. I can't wait to see my Buffs play - and win. I hope Mr. Thomas is a positive addition, but this is not huge news (40%, 59 Votes)
  • Won't say no to the extra help, but do too many cooks spoil the broth? This off-season keeps dragging on - I guess this is good news, but I don't know if another non-coach will help all that much (19%, 28 Votes)

Will the NCAA receive some form of anti-trust exemption from Congress as a result of the House settlement?
  • Probably, but not until 2025. First, there are too many other moving parts. Second, have you seen Congress get anything done during an election year? Ain't nothing happening before the election (78%, 81 Votes)
  • Yes. The only way the NCAA can move forward (read: without an endless series of lawsuits) is to have some form of an anti-trust exemption - which is how the NFL gives us parity (13%, 14 Votes)
  • No. The NCAA and players will have to work this out themselves. Collective bargaining deals? Yes. Anti-trust exemption from Congress? No. (9%, 9 Votes)

CU's odds to win the Big 12 at 40:1, 11th in the conference. Thoughts?
  • I can see CU not being one of the favorites, but 11th choice to win the conference? Not to go against Las Vegas, but the Buffs should not be rated below 10 other teams in the conference (43%, 69 Votes)
  • I'm going with the quote: "Essentially, this is a +4000 bet that five new O-Linemen can build chemistry in one offseason. It's not a great bet, but certainly worth a shot" (31%, 49 Votes)
  • About right, if we're being honest. CU is going to have a much better season, but challenge for the Big 12 title? Just too many questions for CU to go from 4-8 to a title game (26%, 42 Votes)

Would you consider CU to be a "winner" or a "loser" with respect to the House settlement
  • To be determined. It's going to be a chaotic scramble the next few seasons. Can CU compete? Can CU make the right budget adjustments? We'll see ... it's a scary time for the sport (74%, 126 Votes)
  • A loser. Any program not in the Big Ten or SEC has work to do to maintain its status as a championship contender. Fingers crossed Coach Prime makes CU nationally relevant once again (19%, 33 Votes)
  • A winner. CU is well-positioned as a member of the Big 12 to not only maintain its status, but improve when the next round of realignment comes in a few years (7%, 12 Votes)

Three months out from the start of the 2024 season, what do you see as CU's regular season record this fall?
  • 6-6 or 7-5. The roster is still a work in progress, but with two top NFL draft picks to lead them, the Buffs finally get back to the world of bowl-eligible teams (51%, 117 Votes)
  • 8-4 or above. The pundits don't get it, but they soon will. The CU roster is much improved, and the Buffs won't be facing six ranked teams this fall. Buffs will rise to the Top 25 again ... and stay (37%, 85 Votes)
  • 4-8 or 5-7. Coach Prime has talked a good game, but I'm not sure he has put together a Power Four worthy lineup. Another tough season to be a Buff fan (12%, 28 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
