Jon Wilner picks CU 6th in the Pac-12 South, but the Buffs "could finish third or fourth". Thoughts?
  • A fairly accurate assessment. If, as Wilner put it, "everything breaks right", the Buffs will be a mid-division finisher in 2019 (51%, 138 Votes)
  • Far too pessimistic. We'll have to get used to it this off-season, but pundits don't recall how well this team played early in 2018, and how it will play well again with (consistently) good coaching (27%, 74 Votes)
  • I'm afraid that the Buffs are destined for another 6th place finish. With new coaches and a tougher schedule, another 5-7 record may be the best we can ask out of the 2019 Buffs (22%, 60 Votes)

CU picks up a commitment from junior college linebacker Jamar Montgomery. Thoughts?
  • Like it. An outside linebacker/pass rushing end who certainly fills a need on the roster. Welcome, Mr. Montgomery (52%, 144 Votes)
  • Nothing personal against this recruit, but I have to object to Tucker & Co. filling out the roster with unrated players with few - if any - Power Five offers. It seems like the Buffs are settling. (36%, 100 Votes)
  • Love it! A 6'2", 235-pound linebacker who is excited to be in Boulder and get after opposing quarterbacks? Sounds like a solid addition to the Buff lineup (12%, 33 Votes)

Short-handed Buffs fall on the road to Utah, 78-69. Thoughts?
  • This team is an embarrassment, and getting worse by the weekend. Tad Boyle will need to get the team back, and soon, or this could be his last season in Boulder (42%, 99 Votes)
  • I'm just glad that the game was played during the NFL championship games, so that no one was watching ... (37%, 87 Votes)
  • Down 41-19 at the half, the Buffs at least competed in the second half. At this juncture, we'll have to take whatever bits of positive news we can get (21%, 49 Votes)

What is your prediction for the NFL Championship games?
  • Kansas City over New England; New Orleans over Los Angeles - #1 seeds take care of business at home (39%, 94 Votes)
  • Kansas City over New England; Los Angeles over New Orleans - Top two young QB's - Mahomes and Goff - to face off for the title (28%, 66 Votes)
  • New England over Kansas City; New Orleans over Los Angeles - Atlanta fans worst nightmare as two teams they hate square off in their home town (22%, 52 Votes)
  • New England over Kansas City; Los Angeles over New Orleans - Rams are better than the Saints; Chiefs will stumble on big stage against big-game tested Patriots (11%, 27 Votes)

CU announces that senior offensive lineman Aaron Haigler will not play his senior season
  • Haigler was the only junior captain last season, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here that if he was up to playing this year, he would. Thanks, Aaron for being a Buff! (56%, 208 Votes)
  • Not the best news, but not the end of the world. Haigler had issues throughout his career, and attrition is to be expected this time of year. Next man up! (31%, 115 Votes)
  • Bad news. For a team struggling along the offensive line, losing a senior with 27 career starts is a huge blow (13%, 47 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
