If you were CU's "General Manager", with limited resources for the upcoming Transfer Portal, where would you spend most of your money?
  • On the offensive line. The line (for a change) has some returning depth and talent, but is still a good ways from being a Power Four level room. I'd "buy" a few more quality offensive linemen (50%, 76 Votes)
  • On the linebackers. CU got lucky last year when LaVonta Bentley and Nikhai Hill-Green not only played well, but didn't get hurt. The room is thin and inexperienced - this room needs attention (49%, 74 Votes)
  • On the defensive backfield. There is some talent among the starters, but after that there are question marks. With the spread offenses CU will face, you can't have enough quality DBs (1%, 2 Votes)

So ... When do you believe Coach Prime's contract extension will be announced?
  • Not sure at this point that it is going to get done. Coach Prime has a five year contract, and may not want/need an extension. Either that ... or the parties are at an impasse (hope not) (40%, 57 Votes)
  • Not in the immediate future, but before the start of spring practices (March 11th). It might be a nice touch to have it announced at the first players meeting! (33%, 47 Votes)
  • Soon. Now that the Coaching Carousel has (almost) come to a close, the final details can be ironed out, and the deal signed. There's no reason to not get this done ... so, gentlemen, get it done! (27%, 38 Votes)

CBS gives Coach Prime a "B+" for Year Two. If you were to give Coach Prime a grade, what would it be?
  • A "B+" sounds about right. No question that CU exceeded expectations, but the Buffs certainly left some meat on the bone this last fall. A great season - could it have been spectacular? (55%, 106 Votes)
  • An "A". You have to objectively look at what Coach Prime had to work with when he got to CU. If Dillingham gets an "A" for ASU's "quick turnaround", Coach Prime deserves as "A" as well (40%, 77 Votes)
  • I'm actually surprised CBS gave Coach Prime that high a grade. I guess the qualifier about coaching without his "sons" this fall let's us know their lowering of expectations for this fall (5%, 11 Votes)

CU loses defensive line coach Damione Lewis to Miami. Thoughts?
  • We'll have to see what happens. First, whether Coach Prime is interested in bringing in more (experienced) help, and whether any of the linemen follow Lewis to play for Miami. Not a problem - yet (67%, 143 Votes)
  • Not a huge loss. Warren Sapp will get a promotion, and the line will have a great season. Tough to lose Lewis, but not a body blow to the line or the team (19%, 41 Votes)
  • A big loss. The defensive line made the biggest strides of any unit last season, and Lewis was a big part of the recruitment/development of the line. Sorry to see him go (14%, 28 Votes)

In one NFL.com mock draft, Travis is listed as the No. 1 overall Draft pick. In another, Shedeur is going to go as No. 1. Which is more likely to be accurate?
  • Neither will go No. 1 overall. Travis will certainly go in the Top Five, and Shedeur will likely go in the Top Ten, but teams will shy away from picking either as the No. 1 overall draft pick (50%, 101 Votes)
  • Travis Hunter as the No. 1 overall pick. Now that the dust is settling on the 2024 NFL season, focus will turn to the Draft. Teams will realize Travis is a unicorn, and the best player in the draft (31%, 62 Votes)
  • Shedeur Sanders as the No. 1 overall pick. NFL teams understand their QB is not only the leader of the team, but the face of the franchise. Shedeur is as talented as Cam Ward, and will sell tickets (19%, 40 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
