Steve Alford's hiring by UCLA affects CU ...
  • Not at all. UCLA won Pac-12 regular season; Buffs finished fifth. CU still has work to do to catch Bruins, regardless of their coach (64%, 149 Votes)
  • Positively. Alford is not the "splash" hire Bruin fans wanted, and Boyle is every bit as good a coach (31%, 73 Votes)
  • Negatively. Alford will restore order and prestige to the Bruin program. It would have been better if Howland had stayed (5%, 11 Votes)

How important is it for CU to retain in-state high school talent?
  • Very important. In-state players form the core, and raise state-wide interest in the team (48%, 125 Votes)
  • Somewhat important. It's good for P.R., and recruiting pipelines are crucial for long term success (45%, 117 Votes)
  • Not important. Talent is talent. CU will rise by recruiting California well, not Colorado (7%, 17 Votes)

Midway through spring practices, my impressions of the new CU coaching staff
  • Neutral. Not excited, at least not yet. But not discouraged, either. (51%, 140 Votes)
  • Positive. Players seem to be buying in; progress, albeit slow, is being made (43%, 117 Votes)
  • Negative. Giving up on QB's after eight practices, no commitments for the Class of 2014 (6%, 16 Votes)

My take on the report of CU bringing in yet another quarterback
  • Very bad news. Reading between the lines: None of the six roster quarterbacks have made a clear case for their being the starter (59%, 164 Votes)
  • Fine by me. It's Mac's system, and he knows what wants in a quarterback. Competition makes everyone better (23%, 65 Votes)
  • Mixed message. Are eight practices enough to rule out six candidates? (18%, 49 Votes)

Is Colorado at risk of losing Tad Boyle to UCLA?
  • Maybe ... It wouldn't hurt to give Boyle another raise just in case! (37%, 85 Votes)
  • No. Boyle is from Colorado, UCLA is not the program it once was, and Boyle is not the "splash" hire the Bruins are looking for (37%, 84 Votes)
  • Yes. There will always be the risk that CU will lose Boyle to a higher profile job, and UCLA is an elite program (26%, 59 Votes)

  1. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  2. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  3. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
