My revised prediction for CU's 2014 record:
  • Three wins or less. Buffs gave up 38 points to UMass; Pac-12 teams will set records (65%, 241 Votes)
  • Four wins. The same 4-8 record as last year, against better competition (25%, 94 Votes)
  • Five wins. I'm still seeing improvement, and feel this is the best the Buffs can do (8%, 29 Votes)
  • Six or more wins and a bowl bid! There are some other Pac-12 teams which haven't been lighting it up, either. (2%, 8 Votes)

Colorado defeats UMass, 41-38 ...
  • A win is a win. Who remembers now that CU trailed Central Arkansas in the fourth quarter last year? (50%, 188 Votes)
  • Call it a season. This team will not win another game all year. Call me when the CU basketball team has its first game (37%, 138 Votes)
  • Big win! Young teams need confidence building games, and this will help down the road (13%, 52 Votes)

  • Oregon and Stanford prevail at home (57%, 95 Votes)
  • Oregon and USC are winners (23%, 39 Votes)
  • Michigan State and Stanford emerge victorious (12%, 20 Votes)
  • Michigan State and USC pick up impressive road victories (8%, 12 Votes)

My prediction for the Colorado/Umass game ...
  • Buffs come out angry and dominate, beat the 17-point spread (41%, 117 Votes)
  • Buffs play well early, then let the Minutemen back in, holding on late for the win (30%, 87 Votes)
  • Buffs play poorly early, then get their footing, and pull away late (21%, 61 Votes)
  • Buffs play without confidence or passion, and find a way to lose (8%, 22 Votes)

Start Date: September 4, 2014 @ 6:44 pm
End Date: No Expiry

What is most important for you to see out of the Buffs this weekend?
  • A win. I don't care for style points. A victory is a victory at this point (41%, 129 Votes)
  • Better defensive line play. UMass can't run (55 yards v. BC), D-Line needs stops and sacks (37%, 116 Votes)
  • Dominating offensive line. Six yards per carry; finishing drives; no sacks (22%, 67 Votes)

Start Date: September 3, 2014 @ 6:42 pm

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
