My take on JC D-Line commit Nathaniel Robbins ...
  • Sigh. Once again, we are trusting Mac & Co.'s ability to evaluate talent ... fingers crossed! (52%, 139 Votes)
  • A perfect fit! An experienced player for CU's thinnest unit. (29%, 76 Votes)
  • Three years playing football. No division 1-A offers out of high school. Academic risk ... CU picking up nothing but longshots (19%, 51 Votes)

My thoughts on RB Donald Gordon
  • Okay. I'm starting to get Mac & Co. - Identify overlooked/undiscovered talent, win them over, then coach them up. I'm good with that (53%, 183 Votes)
  • A running back who can post 355 yards rushing and six touchdowns in a game? Yes! Yes! Yes! (31%, 108 Votes)
  • Another commit who was unrated by either Rivals or Scout. Will this staff ever compete for a top-rated player?? (16%, 52 Votes)

My biggest concern about the Oregon State game
  • Whether CU's defense can keep Mannion from posting numbers similar to his '13 game against CU (420 yards; 6 TD's) (72%, 214 Votes)
  • Whether CU's offense can be productive against the Pac-12's 2nd-best defense (306 yds. per game) (17%, 49 Votes)
  • Whether CU's special teams will help, and not hurt, the Buffs' chances at a win (11%, 33 Votes)

CU a touchdown underdog to Oregon State ...
  • Easy money! Buffs are figuring it out - I'm looking for a Colorado victory!! (45%, 132 Votes)
  • Line is about right. As with Cal, I think the Buffs will keep it within a touchdown, but I'm not ready to pick a CU win (37%, 108 Votes)
  • Umm ... Sean Mannion had 420 yards passing and six touchdowns against CU last year. Buffs' secondary will be sorely tested. (18%, 53 Votes)

The biggest surprise of the weekend in Pac-12 play ...
  • That Washington State was able to rally from a 21-0 deficit to defeat Utah on the road, 28-27 (47%, 131 Votes)
  • That UCLA was able to manhandle Arizona State on the road, 62-27 (40%, 113 Votes)
  • That Stanford struggled to defeat Washington on the road, 20-13 (13%, 36 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
