Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark: No divisions in the Big 12 in 2024; Eight or nine game conference schedules still being discussed. Thoughts?
  • To be honest, it's hard to think about the Big 12 when CU has four (and perhaps five) ranked Pac-12 teams left to play. Let's deal with the '24 schedule after the '23 season (71%, 133 Votes)
  • I wouldn't mind seeing an eight-game conference slate, with teams freed up to play a fourth non-conference game (preferably a Power Five rivalry game). No divisions? Not a fan (18%, 33 Votes)
  • I'm glad that there won't be divisions, but I wouldn't mind having pods (CU in with the Kansas schools, and either Iowa State or Oklahoma State). Nine games seems mandatory for a 14-team conference (11%, 22 Votes)

Coach Prime has a book, “Elevate and Dominate: 21 Ways to Win On and Off the Field", coming out in March, 2024. Thoughts?
  • Like it! More publicity for Coach Prime and more publicity for CU. Oh, and several million more reasons ($$$) for Coach Prime not to need to leave for another conference (44%, 80 Votes)
  • I'm sure I'll read it when it comes out, but I'd like to see how the Chapter about CU's 2023 season will be written before committing to being excited about the book (28%, 50 Votes)
  • Hate it. I know Coach Prime is capable of multi-tasking and juggling many different enterprises, but, right now, I'm more interested in seeing Coach Prime focus on making the Buffs better (28%, 50 Votes)

Colorado at UCLA next Saturday set for 5:30 MT on ABC. Thoughts?
  • Nice. Buffs get another national game - and not at 8:00 p.m. Good chance for the Buffs, after a bye week, to show the nation that the ship has been corrected (52%, 129 Votes)
  • I hope that the national game will lure CU alumni out to the Rose Bowl (last CA trip as a member of the Pac-12), and turn the battle with the Bruins into a home game (35%, 86 Votes)
  • Don't like it. The Buffs are becoming a national joke (see: SNL skit), and this will be just another chance for the haters to pile on. I'd rather have the Buffs under the radar for awhile (13%, 34 Votes)

CU is 4-3, 1-3. With five games remaining, the Buffs need two more wins to become bowl-eligible. Rate CU's chances at a bowl bid in 2023
  • Medium. The math is hard to make work, with CU needing to defeat at least one more ranked team (and perhaps two) to get there. Saturday's loss was a blow, but it's still possible (49%, 138 Votes)
  • Low. With a win over Stanford, the Buffs would have had five chances at one win. Now, with the schedule the way it is, the path to six wins is now too steep for the Buffs (45%, 127 Votes)
  • High. The Stanford loss was a tough one to take, for sure, but the bye week and some tough love will push the Buffs to at least two more wins (6%, 16 Votes)

Where do you place most of the blame for CU's historic collapse against Stanford?
  • The coaching staff. They didn't have the team prepared to play the second half, and couldn't make adjustments when the Cardinal kept running the same play over and over again (61%, 189 Votes)
  • I blame the hubris of the calls on offense when the game was still in hand. Two fourth down sacks gave the Cardinal short fields and momentum. Play to win the game, not to show off! (24%, 75 Votes)
  • I blame the distractions. This team is all too ready to play for the camera, but aren't ready to do the dirty work and make the plays to win games. (15%, 47 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
