Coach Prime undergoing surgery for a blood clot in his groin - making national news. Thoughts?
  • I'm glad that Coach Prime posted a short video explaining what was going on. Sounds like they have things under control, and he's in good spirits. Thoughts and prayers, coach! (64%, 125 Votes)
  • Just another indication of how everything Coach Prime (and by association, CU) does is going to continue to be under a microscope. Hang onto your hats, Buff fans, this is going to be a wild ride (29%, 56 Votes)
  • It sounds like Coach Prime will be fine, but some things are private, and really should be kept private. A press release saying he was undergoing surgery and would be fine would have sufficed (7%, 15 Votes)

CU receives a commitment from junior college quarterback Gavin Kuld. Thoughts?
  • CU needed an extra body in the QB room and an extra arm for practices. I doubt Kuld will ever see the field of play, but if he's a preferred walk-on, it costs CU nothing to have him on the roster (82%, 232 Votes)
  • A good pickup. We've been waiting for a backup quarterback with playing experience. Oh, and I like the idea of getting a 6'6", 230-pound quarterback in the room (10%, 27 Votes)
  • Yeesh. A part-time quarterback who has bounced through three junior colleges (and who has more career interceptions than touchdowns)? Not exactly Louis Vuitton luggage (8%, 24 Votes)

George Kliavkoff abdicates for a day, letting you take over as Pac-12 commissioner. What do you do about San Diego State?
  • Take them. You don't want to lose the southern California market (and certainly not to the Big 12). The Pac-12 has been outmaneuvered too many times - we can't let it happen again (48%, 113 Votes)
  • Pass. With the media contracts still up in the air, the last thing the Pac-12 needs to do is to take on a G5 school. The pie will be small enough - no need to cut the pie into smaller pieces (28%, 65 Votes)
  • Take San Diego State, but only at a reduced payout. The Aztecs have put themselves in a bad position, so give them a smaller share of future revenue in exchange for inviting them into the Pac-11 (24%, 55 Votes)

Several national publications have placed the CU men's basketball team in their preseason Top 25. Thoughts?
  • Love it! With All-American Cody Williams in the fold and Tristan da Silva back, this team is not only bound for the Big Dance, but they could make some noise once they get there! (47%, 102 Votes)
  • The proof is in the pudding, or, better put, the proof is in having a Tad Boyle team which doesn't stumble in the preseason, and have lapses in Pac-12 play. Fingers crossed, but I'm still skeptical (41%, 88 Votes)
  • Sorry, but I am in full football mode from the end of March Madness until February Signing Day. Check back with me when Bracketology gets serious next winter (12%, 26 Votes)

In its Pac-12 South preview, ESPN posed the question: "Which chemistry experiment clicks first, Arizona State's or Colorado's?" Thoughts?
  • Since ESPN and Bill Connelly have taken issue with Coach Prime's methods, I'm sure they go with ASU, but I'd rather have CU's talent upgrade over ASU's lesser infusion of talent to a 3-9 team (42%, 70 Votes)
  • If you are grading on the short term - as in the first month of the season - the answer will be ASU, as the Sun Devils open with four games at home, while CU runs a gauntlet of ranked teams (31%, 51 Votes)
  • ASU's Kenny Dillingham is the youngest coach in FBS, and Coach Prime is an experienced head coach with Hall of Fame credentials. How is it possible that this question is even being asked? (27%, 44 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
