Kickoff for Colorado v. Oregon State (Saturday, November 4th) has been set for an 8:00 p.m., MT, kickoff (ESPN). Thoughts?
  • I hate it. Just like Coach Prime, I think late night games are for the birds. I'm sure the haters will fixate on Coach Prime's previous statements about late starts ... Sigh! (51%, 114 Votes)
  • Wow. We live in a world where Top 10 Oregon has been on the Pac-12 Networks four times, and CU only once. (CU will have to make one more appearance on Pac-12 Networks - never a problem before) (25%, 57 Votes)
  • Another game with national exposure. It's amazing how Coach Prime and the Buffs continue to attract national attention. I hope recruits are paying attention - You want to be on TV? Come to Boulder! (24%, 54 Votes)

CU opens as a 17.0-point underdog on the road against UCLA (Saturday, 5:30 p.m., MT, ABC). Thoughts?
  • Sounds about right (sad to say). The Buffs haven't shown that they can stop any decent offense, and UCLA has a very good rushing attack. This will be close to a 17.0-point game come last Saturday (42%, 88 Votes)
  • I'm very worried about this game. With CU's fragile psyche at this point, the game could get out of hand early. Until the Buffs can prove otherwise ... take the opponents, regardless of the spread (31%, 65 Votes)
  • Take the Buffs and the points - easy money! We're back to August, when everyone was underestimating the Buffs. No chance that CU doesn't cover this spread (27%, 57 Votes)

What grade would you give the Colorado defense for the first half of the 2023 season?
  • A D ... In the bottom ten in the nation in total defense and scoring defense, the collapse against Stanford may be just a prelude to a somber second half of the season (71%, 158 Votes)
  • A C ... The Buffs are 4-3, and that's better than most pundits had CU at this stage. If the Buffs had held on v. Stanford, and CU was 5-2, we wouldn't be so pessimistic. CU is holding its own (26%, 59 Votes)
  • A B ... Considering the injuries and the competition, the defense, with 12 turnovers gained and some timely good play, will continue to improve (3%, 6 Votes)

What grade would you give the Colorado offense for the first half of the 2023 season?
  • A B ... The passing game will set records, but without a rushing attack or a decent offensive line, the Buffs' fast start is turning into a slow decline to mediocrity (64%, 140 Votes)
  • A C ... Last in the nation in sacks allowed ... 125th in the nation in rushing ... Shedeur has been all we could have hoped for, but otherwise the Buffs have been a disappointment (27%, 60 Votes)
  • An A ... CU is averaging over 34 points/game (29th in the nation), and Shedeur Sanders is going to rewrite the CU single season record book. A great start to the Coach Prime era! (9%, 20 Votes)

Which Pac-12 game this weekend for you holds the most interest?
  • No. 14 Utah at No. 18 USC. The Trojans are favored by a touchdown, but just got embarrassed by Notre Dame. Utah has won three straight in the series ... can they make it four? (44%, 86 Votes)
  • None of the above. I'm either: a) going to be glued to my set watching Penn State at Ohio State; or b) taking the weekend off from football, like my Buffs (30%, 59 Votes)
  • No. 25 UCLA at Stanford. The Bruins are CU's next opponent ... Wouldn't it be great if the Cardinal showed that they are actually a decent team, and posted another upset this weekend? (20%, 39 Votes)
  • Washington State at No. 9 Oregon. The Cougars are coming off of an big loss; the Ducks are coming off of an emotional loss. Can WSU bring the team which was 4-0 and ranked 13th to Eugene? (6%, 12 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
