What did you take from Chancellor Phil DiStefano's letter to the CU students and faculty?
  • That CU has active and engaged leadership, and that DiStefano and Rick George will do what's necessary to protect CU's interest going forward (55%, 72 Votes)
  • "That CU plans on announcing our plan for a safe return to an in-person campus experience by or before the beginning of June" - like the sounds of that (35%, 46 Votes)
  • That CU "will be delaying our decision about Augmester, which takes place Aug. 3 through Aug. 20, until later this month", which keeps hope alive for a full season (10%, 13 Votes)

Which Friday headline caught your attention the most?
  • William Anglen is back in the fold - I'm not sure what impresses me more, that CU's coaches held onto all of the Class of 2020, or that a prep star from Ohio (with ties to Tucker) is staying with CU (72%, 148 Votes)
  • Iowa plans on beginning practice on June 1st - If the Hawkeyes are back on the field in a month, how long will it be before other schools/conferences will follow suit (so as not to be left behind)? (22%, 45 Votes)
  • Tyler Bey hires an agent - I had hopes that Bey would still return to the Buffs, but I guess that ship has now sailed. I hope it proves to be the right decision for him (6%, 12 Votes)

Which of Rick George's Thursday press conference quotes do you find the most interesting?
  • On some schools opening up before others: "Certainly, having states open up at different times and with different requirements is challenging" (54%, 68 Votes)
  • On cutting non-revenue sports: "I certainly think there’s a lot of discussion out there on that topic ... but that’s not under consideration by me at this time" (28%, 36 Votes)
  • On Folsom Field WiFi: “That’s an ongoing project that’ll be done this summer ... Our WiFi will be much different in out stadium this fall" (18%, 23 Votes)

University of Colorado announcement: Summer sessions through July 31st to remain online. Thoughts?
  • Not a shock, and I wouldn't be surprised if the online requirement is extended through August (and perhaps beyond). Fans need to be wrapping their heads around not having football in 2020 (48%, 95 Votes)
  • My concern: If other schools (and conferences) allow students (and student athletes) back on campus before CU, the Dorrell coaching staff will be at an even greater disadvantage when play begins (41%, 81 Votes)
  • Well, if teams need six weeks of practice to get ready, and the campus is closed until (at least) August 1st, there goes (at least for now) the first 2 games (CSU; Fresno State) of the 2020 season. (11%, 20 Votes)

Karl Dorrell & CO. pick up their the first commitment from the Recruiting Class of 2021. Thoughts?
  • Fairly excited. Baugh did have some offers from other Power-Five schools ... and I'm glad that this coaching staff is finally on the board in obtaining its first commitment (47%, 110 Votes)
  • Not super excited. Not even rated by either of the recruiting services. All due respect to Mr. Baugh, but Tucker & Co. went after four-star prospects ... not unrated projects (28%, 65 Votes)
  • Very excited. A quality player from a quality school (state champion in Florida). Glad to have Allan Baugh on board! (25%, 59 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
