Best guess. When will CU take the field, and how many games will the Buffs play this season?
  • Best guess? We won't see football again until September, 2021 (43%, 96 Votes)
  • Ten games next spring. The conference will have extra time to rearrange the schedule for a ten-game slate for every conference team (31%, 69 Votes)
  • Ten games this fall. The schedule will be rearranged so that every Pac-12 team will have five home and five road games, with extra weeks to allow for any postponements (15%, 33 Votes)
  • Nine games this fall. No non-conference games, but the Pac-12 (and the rest of the Power-Five) will strive to have a full conference season this fall (11%, 25 Votes)

Pac-12 announces it will go to a conference-only schedule this fall. Thoughts?
  • It was the only choice. After the Big Ten scrapped its non-conference slate, the dominoes were going to begin to fall. Move on, and hope that there will still be games this fall (58%, 121 Votes)
  • As always, the devil is in the details. The Pac-12 said it will announce the details of the conference-only schedule by July 31st. We'll see what CU (and other teams) are up against then (29%, 60 Votes)
  • It was too early to make that call. Things were much better a month ago, and could be much better a month from now. The Pac-12 - and other conferences - should have waited until the end of July (13%, 29 Votes)

Big Ten announces it will only play conference games this fall. Initial reaction?
  • That this is just a delaying tactic. It won't be long until the entire season is postponed until spring (53%, 120 Votes)
  • If Oregon/Ohio State and Washington/Michigan aren't going to be played, then the rest of the Power Five will soon have to opt for a similar schedule (28%, 64 Votes)
  • CU has one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the nation ... so my first reaction is that if the Pac-12 goes conference only, it will help the Buffs (19%, 43 Votes)

Stanford announces that it is cutting 11 sports after the 2020-21 academic year. Thoughts?
  • What's really scary is that Stanford has a $27 Billion (with a "B") endowment. If a private school like Stanford can't make the athletic department math work, what chance will public schools have? (35%, 72 Votes)
  • Just the canary in the coal mine. There will be more cuts like this down the road. "Olympic Sports" will be the real casualty if football is post-poned or cancelled this fall (35%, 72 Votes)
  • Not a big deal. Stanford has won the "Directors' Cup" for 25 straight years by fielding teams in fencing, rowing, sailing and squash. Welcome to the real world, Cardinal fans (30%, 64 Votes)

Which news of the day did you find to be the most disconcerting?
  • That wide receiver La'Vontae Shenault was arrested for DUI. I hope the young man learns his lesson, and that this not impact his future at CU (I also hope he learns not to drive in Ft. Fun!) (63%, 145 Votes)
  • That there is growing momentum for a shortened season - or a spring season. I guess we can see this coming, but it's disappointing nonetheless (24%, 56 Votes)
  • That linebacker Jash Allen has entered the transfer portal. While only a part-time contributor last year (28 defensive snaps), he was one of the highest-ranked recruits from the Class of 2019 (13%, 28 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
