Which of the most recent quotes from Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott do you find to be the most intriguing?
  • On Oregon governor banning group activity until October 1: "I’d hope and expect the officials in Oregon will stay open-minded and let the data and the science and let the medical experts guide us" (45%, 48 Votes)
  • On sports without students on campus: "We’ve felt that if our campuses are uncomfortable having students back on campus, we could not envision having student-athletes back on campus competing" (31%, 33 Votes)
  • On the possibility of fans in the stands: "I would expect there are differences state-by-state in terms of when fans are allowed to attend games" (24%, 25 Votes)

Pac-12 Statement: “The Pac-12 and our member universities will make our own determination on when our student-athletes can return to play"
  • Much ado about nothing. There will be news - and decisions made - in the next few weeks/months, but nothing that any entity/individual says right now has little bearing on the final decision-making (68%, 115 Votes)
  • Whistling past the graveyard. The Pac-12, as we have seen from the pronouncements from state officials in Oregon and California, isn't a factor. It won't matter what the Pac-12 wants/thinks/says (23%, 38 Votes)
  • I like it. The Pac-12 needs to be at the forefront of this discussion, and conference members need to act in a unified manner (9%, 15 Votes)

The Recruiting Class of 2021 is committing at a record pace, but CU has only two commitments. Thoughts?
  • It is what it is ... just another example of how far behind CU was put by the departure of Midnight Mel. It's going to take months - perhaps years - to get caught up on recruiting (45%, 105 Votes)
  • Some 424 prospects of the 627 commits did so after the shut down. If official visits return this summer/fall, there will also be a historic number of de-commitments ... and CU can catch up (30%, 70 Votes)
  • It's worrisome - Some 627 commits already (compared to 302 at this time last year). Seems like CU is missing out on the Recruiting Class of 2021 ... and there's not much they can do about it (25%, 60 Votes)

CBS Sports: Pac-12 in discussion for a "conference-only" schedule this fall. Thoughts?
  • Another day; another theory. As Stanford coach David Shaw put it: "I think where we are is the definition of a fluid situation". Stay tuned ... (75%, 143 Votes)
  • It seems like a logical evolution of the discussion. It will buy the conference more time while still preserving a reasonable facsimile of a full season (16%, 30 Votes)
  • Delaying the season for three games doesn't really solve any of the issues at hand (Plus, I'm not thrilled with CU having to win five Pac-12 games to get to bowl-eligibility ... which will be tough) (9%, 17 Votes)

It's been 18 years since CU last won a conference championship. How long will it be before CU's next title?
  • The Buffs played for a title just three season ago. I can see the Buffs playing for, and winning, a Pac-12 title in the next 3-5 seasons (44%, 88 Votes)
  • With the way CU has been snake-bitten with coaching changes and the inability to recruit a star quarterback, it may be another decade or so before the Buffs are crowned champions once again (40%, 79 Votes)
  • This historic slide (never more than seven straight losing seasons in school history before the past 15 years of suffering) shows no signs of being altered. CU finishing last is the new normal (16%, 32 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
