Which post-spring depth chart issue on the offensive side of the ball do you find to be the most troubling?
  • Offensive Line - The starting five seems to be fairly settled, but after that - virtually no experience. CU needs Transfer Portal help here, and it can't come soon enough (68%, 108 Votes)
  • Quarterback - It would have been nice for Lewis and Shrout to have it out this spring, giving CU a settled starting quarterback for Fall Camp (21%, 34 Votes)
  • Wide Receiver - Rice, Stanley and Shenault (and their 39 combined starts - 58 games played total) are gone. Anyone convinced CU has identified three starters to replace them? (7%, 11 Votes)
  • Running Back - With Alex Fontenot limited, there was no clear winner in the race for starter. If you have 3-4 possible starters, does it mean you really have none? (4%, 7 Votes)

Will at least one Colorado player be taken in the NFL Draft for the sixth consecutive season?
  • Yes. I don't know if it will be Carson Wells or Nate Landman - or both! - but I can see a Buff being taken in the late rounds Saturday (50%, 97 Votes)
  • Hard to say. Nate Landman has the intangibles teams want, and Carson Wells has the physical tools. Not sure if either will get the call, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do (36%, 70 Votes)
  • No. Carson Wells wasn't consistent enough in his career, and Landman is too injury-prone to be drafted. Both will get free agent deals, but neither will be drafted (14%, 28 Votes)

Which CU NFL Draft factoid to you was the most interesting?
  • That CU is 28th in the nation in NFL first round picks, and is just three shy of being third in the Pac-12 in producing first-rounders (which would be behind only USC and UCLA) (50%, 72 Votes)
  • That CU remains in the Top 25 (No. 23) in all-time NFL draft picks ... though it would be a shame if CU fell out of the Top 25 this weekend (28%, 40 Votes)
  • That CU has had at least one player drafted in each of the past five drafts. I wouldn't have guessed that CU has been that consistent in producing NFL Draft-worthy players (22%, 32 Votes)

USA Today has three Pac-12 coaches on its list of ten national coaches on the "hot seat", including Karl Dorrell. Does Dorrell belong on the list?
  • No. CU can't afford (literally and figuratively) to keep a revolving door in the head coaches room. Dorrell will be the coach through 2023 at a minimum. (52%, 150 Votes)
  • TBD. It will come down to how competitive the team is in 2023. If the team picks up some wins, and plays hard, Dorrell will return. If the team gives up on the new coaching staff, it's over (34%, 98 Votes)
  • Yes. You can't go 4-8, lose your top players to the Transfer Portal, then post another losing season and hope to keep your job (14%, 39 Votes)

Jon Wilner on CU's Transfer Portal in's and out's: "If the portal were a balance sheet, the Buffs would be staring at bankruptcy". Thoughts?
  • A harsh statement, to be sure, but it's hard to deny. CU lost its top receiver, top running back, and three-fourths of its defensive backfield. Until proven otherwise, CU gets a failing grade (41%, 105 Votes)
  • As with everything else for the 2022 Buffs, this falls into the "To Be Determined" category. CU's Transfer Portal ledger looks like a negative for now, but the roster has yet to be finalized (39%, 98 Votes)
  • The next time Jon Wilner spends ten minutes actually doing research on CU's roster will be the first time. It's a clever use of words, but it's not based in reality (20%, 51 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
