My grade for the CU wide receivers ...
  • B ... 19th in the nation in passing last year - hard to argue with the numbers (63%, 99 Votes)
  • C ... "Aces and spaces" - Spruce is great, but there is no proven talent behind him (18%, 28 Votes)
  • A ... An All-American and quality talent and depth. One of the best units on the team (16%, 26 Votes)
  • D ... Teams have figured out Spruce (two TD's in final seven games) (3%, 5 Votes)

Wide receiver Derrion Rakestraw commits to CU. Your excitement level?
  • Medium. I'd like to say I am optimistic, but it's hard to build an entire team of "diamonds in the rough" (50%, 118 Votes)
  • High. I like his height (6'3") and speed (4.5). What's not to like? (25%, 60 Votes)
  • Low. Beating out Elon, Troy and Samford for a recruit is not cause for much celebration (25%, 58 Votes)

My top reason for pessimism for the 2015 season ...
  • The Pac-12 home schedule (Oregon, USC, Arizona, Stanford) is brutal ... and CU struggles on the road (57%, 130 Votes)
  • CU has been 100th or worse in total defense for years, and Pac-12 offenses just keep getting better and better (24%, 56 Votes)
  • Losing begets losing. It's tough to break the cycle of losing season after season (19%, 43 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
