Which of the Mel Tucker post-practice quotes do you like the best?

  • "We've made steady progress in terms of sense of urgency and how we practice, the physicality, the fundamentals, along with the scheme and execution. We've gotten better pretty much every day" (32%, 63 Votes)
  • "A spring game is an opportunity to put them in a game-like situation, especially in our home stadium, and get some of that anxiety out" (11%, 23 Votes)

Which "CU at the NFL Draft" is most impressive?
  • That CU is No. 23 all-time in the number of NFL draftees. A number which shows CU has been a quality program for many years (60%, 113 Votes)
  • That CU is tied for 27th all-time in the number of first round picks (and Laviska Shenault will put CU back in the Top 25 next spring!) (20%, 38 Votes)
  • That CU is tied for 6th all-time in the number of defensive backs taken (and could be tied for 4th in Evan Worthington is drafted) (20%, 37 Votes)

What are your plans for CU's Spring Game (noon, Saturday, Pac-12 Networks)?
  • I don't live close enough to attend, but I may be watching on the Pac-12 Networks or listening in on KOA (50%, 111 Votes)
  • A 70-degree day, and an actual "game-like" Spring Game. Count me in for Mel Tucker's debut! (31%, 68 Votes)
  • A 70-degree Saturday? I'll be enjoying the day elsewhere ... and perhaps read about the Spring Game later (19%, 43 Votes)

CU picks up a preferred walk-on commitment from outside linebacker Steele Dubar. Thoughts?
  • A linebacker named Steele Dubar? Just on name alone, I like this player. Here's hoping he grows into a contributor and a scholarship player (45%, 119 Votes)
  • An undersized linebacker with only one Group of Five offer (Nevada)? Fine with it, but not expecting much (32%, 85 Votes)
  • A starting linebacker for the No. 1 high school team in the nation (California's Mater Dei). An exciting addition for the Class of 2019 (23%, 60 Votes)

What stat from the second scrimmage impressed you the most?
  • That there were seven completions to the tight ends. If that trend continues, there will be a whole new dimension to CU's offense for the 2019 season (38%, 63 Votes)
  • That Mel Tucker was pleased (after not being pleased earlier this week). I like the way he put it: "I thought we put some money in the bank today" (36%, 60 Votes)
  • That the Buffs ran 84 plays without a turnover. As OC Jay Johnson put it: "For the most part we've really done a great job taking care of the ball. If we do that we're going to win a lot of games" (26%, 45 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
