No. 5 Utah v. No. 13 Oregon - Friday, 6:00 p.m., MT. Who will be the Pac-12 champion?
  • No. 5 Utah. The Utes are stronger on both sides of the ball, and have a playoff berth to play for - Utes take down the Ducks (61%, 187 Votes)
  • Can't say that I care. I'm more interested in No. 20 CU at No. 2 Kansas on Saturday night (5:00 p.m., MT, ESPN2) (22%, 69 Votes)
  • No. 13 Oregon. The Utes have played exactly one ranked team all season (then No. 17 Arizona State). On the big stage, Justin Herbert will come through. Ducks take down Utes (17%, 52 Votes)

Which recent coaching announcement for you was the most interesting?
  • Washington - Chris Petersen stepping down was a complete surprise. Continuity is good, and Jimmy Lake is a respected coordinator, but it remains to be seen if he can sustain Petersen's success (67%, 229 Votes)
  • USC - Retaining Clay Helton has the Trojan Nation in a rage. CU's chances of picking up win No. 1 over USC next year improved with today's news. (27%, 92 Votes)
  • CSU - Not completely unexpected, but it will be interesting to see who the Rams can hire (with the roster and budget in disarray). CU at CSU to open the 2020 season - just got more intriguing (6%, 23 Votes)

Laviska Shenault declares for the 2020 NFL Draft? Thoughts?
  • I'm just sorry that Laviska had to fight through injuries during his CU career, and didn't get to play more in college. Best of luck, Laviska, and thanks for the memories! (67%, 269 Votes)
  • Good news for CU. Shenault has a very good chance at getting taken in the first round. Good publicity for CU nationally - and will help with recruiting (29%, 116 Votes)
  • Bad news for CU. Certainly understand Laviska's decision, but it would have helped to have him in the lineup next year, to try and get the Buffs to a bowl (4%, 15 Votes)

Which of Neill Woelk's Takeaways from the 2019 season to you rings the most true?
  • "The Buffs are physically and mentally tougher" (39%, 120 Votes)
  • "There's work to be done on the recruiting trail" (27%, 83 Votes)
  • "The Buffs improved in the trenches" (24%, 73 Votes)
  • "Young players received critical playing time" (10%, 34 Votes)

What grade would you give CU's 5-7, 3-6 record in the 2019 season?
  • A C ... The five wins were impressive, but the seven losses were disappointing, especially Air Force, Arizona and USC. A "woulda, coulda, shoulda" season ... again (49%, 200 Votes)
  • A B ... Wins over rivals CSU and Nebraska ... two wins over ranked teams ... first win over Washington in Pac-12 play - a good season (45%, 183 Votes)
  • A D ... Mel Tucker was brought in to get CU to a bowl game, and failed to do so. There were "no excuses" and no "Year Zero". The Buffs were supposed to win games in 2019 ... and failed (4%, 15 Votes)
  • An A ... With the roster Tucker & Co. had to deal with (not to mention the injuries), it was a remarkable season (2%, 11 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
