ESPN gives Colorado a "C-" grade for the hiring of Karl Dorrell. Thoughts?
- I'm going to ignore national pundits this spring (we know what they are going to say), and wait to see what Dorrell & Co. can produce this fall (71%, 353 Votes)
- If we're being objective, it's hard to argue with "(Dorrell) isn’t a dynamic personality and will need very smart staff hires (to be successful)" (19%, 96 Votes)
- Ridiculous. ESPN notes that no one has done as well at UCLA since Dorrell left, but still concludes, "It's hard to get excited (about Karl Dorrell)" (10%, 48 Votes)

What are your thoughts on retaining Darrin Chiaverini at CU?
- Vital. One of the top recruiters in the country, and he bleeds black and gold. His retention is critical to continuity ... and keeping the roster from disintegrating (68%, 419 Votes)
- Important. Assistant head coach? Sure. Recruiting coordinator? Of course. Wide receivers coach? Naturally. Offensive coordinator? Maybe ... (22%, 137 Votes)
- Not life and death. Head coach Dorrell says he is going to hire the best coaches. If Dorrell (or Chiaverini) wants to go a different direction, the sun will come up tomorrow, and CU will be fine (10%, 60 Votes)

Which quote from Karl Dorrell's introductory press conference do you like best?
- "We're not going to use any excuses (for poor results). We're not going to use, 'Because I got hired this late in the process and spring ball is around the corner'. We're going to get it done" (41%, 163 Votes)
- "I think we're going to continue with the path that we have right now ... We're going to get back to recruiting the best players" (37%, 147 Votes)
- "I'm here for the long haul. That's what I want you to know. This is my dream job ... I'm happy to be back home" (22%, 92 Votes)

What Karl Dorrell factoid gives you the most confidence going forward?
- That Dorrell, while competing against Pete Carroll's national title USC teams for prospects, consistently posted Recruiting Classes higher than Mel Tucker's 35th-ranked CU Class of 2020 (60%, 327 Votes)
- That Dorrell's UCLA teams went to five straight bowl games - and no Bruin coach has been able to match that mark since (36%, 197 Votes)
- That Dorrell coached the first, second and third players in CU history to post 1,000-yard receiving seasons (4%, 20 Votes)
Start Date: February 23, 2020 @ 4:13 pm
End Date: No Expiry
Report: Former CU Assistant Coach Karl Dorrell to be CU's next head coach. Thoughts?
- Have yet to form an opinion. First, we need to see if this is actually happening. I then need to see if Dorrell can bring in a good staff and retain CU's players (48%, 308 Votes)
- Dorrell has CU and Pac-12 ties, and took the Bruins to five bowl games in five seasons. Nice resume, and he won't be bolting to the SEC/Big Ten or NFL. I'm up for this hire! (31%, 194 Votes)
- You're kidding, right? From potential splash hires to a former assistant who was fired by UCLA, and has been in the NFL for 11 of the past 12 years? Yuck (21%, 134 Votes)

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.
SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.
The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!
‘SkoBuffs!! Drub the Nubs.
Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.
Did Coach Hagan just let the cat out of the bag regarding Colorado’s starting QB?
Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
