CU v. No. 13 Dayton in Chicago, Saturday, 4:30 p.m., MT. CBS Sports Networks. Thoughts?
  • Dayton's only loss was to No. 1 Kansas - in overtime. I'm afraid this is going to be a blowout in favor of the Flyers (43%, 71 Votes)
  • I can see the Buffs keeping this close, but I can't see them winning this game. A close lose, but a loss nonetheless (38%, 62 Votes)
  • The Buffs showed me something in pulling away from Prairie View. Buffs will be up for the Flyers, and will pull off a big win (19%, 32 Votes)

K.D. Nixon reverses field, announces he will be returning to CU for his senior season after all. Thoughts?
  • Great news. With Tony Brown graduating and Laviska Shenault heading for the first round of the NFL Draft, it will help the Buffs to have Nixon back to lead the WR corps (62%, 232 Votes)
  • Not sure how it will work out for Nixon or the Buffs, but I'm proud of Nixon for recognizing his mistake, and being man enough to admit it publicly and come back to get his degree (27%, 103 Votes)
  • Nice to have Nixon back, but if there is one unit which doesn't need an extra player, it's the wide receiver corps (11%, 40 Votes)

What grade would you assign to CU's 2020 Recruiting Class?
  • An A ... Buffs got their QB of the future, beef on the lines, great wide receivers, and, oh, yeah, Antonio Alfano, perhaps the highest-rated recruit in CU history (50%, 211 Votes)
  • Incomplete ... If the Buffs get running back Ashaad Clayton and defensive lineman Jason Harris, they deserve a high grade. Withholding judgment until Signing Day in February (27%, 114 Votes)
  • A B ... There's some quality there, for sure, but there are still some holes ... No running backs? How about a transfer quarterback or safety? (23%, 96 Votes)

How would rate your excitement level for CU's Recruiting Class of 2020?
  • High. The Buffs are looking to post the highest-rated Class in over a decade. Can't wait for these new Buffs to take the field wearing Black and Gold! (68%, 304 Votes)
  • Medium. On paper, this looks like a good Class, but there is still work to be done to finalize the Class on February's Signing Day (29%, 130 Votes)
  • Low. Everyone gets excited on Signing Day, but forget that at least half of every Class fails to find the field as a starter. Development is more important than star ratings, anyway (3%, 13 Votes)

CU drops out of the Top 25 (AP: T-36th; Coaches: T-34th) after a five-week run. Thoughts?
  • Not news. If the Buffs are upset about falling out of the rankings, the solution is simple: Beat No. 13 Dayton on Saturday, and all will be forgiven (by the pollsters) (55%, 145 Votes)
  • Not good news. The Buffs are now fourth in the Pac-12 ... and fading. I could live with the fall out of the Top 25 if the Buffs were playing good basketball, but they are not. (27%, 71 Votes)
  • All that matters to the Selection Committee (and to me) are the NET Rankings. The first one came out today, and CU is in good shape at No. 31 (18%, 48 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
