USC 37, Colorado 14. Thoughts?
  • So, even down three touchdowns in the fourth, Drew Carter doesn't get in? If there aren't some major changes during the bye week, there is no reason to expect any different results going forward (57%, 241 Votes)
  • I can't believe I am even paying attention to this team anymore. Pathetic on both sides of the ball, CU has regressed into one of the worst teams in the Power Five. I'm out! (31%, 129 Votes)
  • There were some glimmers of good play, both on offense and defense. Hang in there, Buff fans - this young team is developing. Slowly, to be sure, but developing nonetheless (12%, 52 Votes)

It's time! Your prediction for Colorado v. USC (Saturday, noon, MT, Pac-12 Networks)
  • USC is averaging 32.5 points per game, while the Buffs have scored 20 ... in three FBS games. Hard to see this as anything but a Trojan blowout (57%, 131 Votes)
  • CU is 0-14 all-time v. USC, and have lost in any number of creative ways. That's what will happen here - the Buffs will tease us with a chance at a win, and then find a new way to lose ... again (23%, 53 Votes)
  • Anyone who watched USC against Oregon State knows this is a Trojan team which can be beaten. If now now, when? Buffs come out to play, and get enough turnovers to find a way to an upset! (20%, 47 Votes)

Which news of the day to you is the most indicative of the End of Days of college football?
  • Phil Knight and Nike set up a company to handle NIL deals for Oregon athletes. You want to try and recruit against that? (Apparently the extra $500 million Nike gave Oregon this summer wasn't enough) (66%, 158 Votes)
  • The National Labor Relations Board said athletes at private schools (including Stanford and USC) can unionize. No way collegiate athletics will ever be the same (26%, 63 Votes)
  • Boise State and San Diego State turn down the AAC, believing they will be invited to join the Big 12 or the Pac-12 (also giving CSU - CSU! - new hope of an AAC invitation) (8%, 20 Votes)

Which of the following quotes from offensive coordinator Darrin Chiaverini are you LEAST impressed by?
  • "At the end of the day, your game plan is about your personnel ... It's not a veteran led group ... They're taking baby steps, and there is going to be some growing pains" (42%, 117 Votes)
  • "At the end of the day, we're all in this together ... When we're not playing well, I'm going to get criticism. I get it" (20%, 55 Votes)
  • "I see improvement week to week. We'll get better ... When you have young players, it's going to take some time" (15%, 42 Votes)
  • "I knew with a freshman quarterback (in Brendon Lewis), making his first starts, that there would be some growing pains" (15%, 41 Votes)
  • "I know people are frustrated, but we're going to get it there. It's going to take each week showing progress" (8%, 23 Votes)

Which factor gives CU its best chance at an upset over USC this Saturday (noon, MT, Pac-12 Networks)?
  • Improvement along both lines. CU had to play 11 offensive linemen against Minnesota, but only six against ASU. Plus, Mustafa Johnson is back on the D-Line. Better line play = better chances at a win (43%, 103 Votes)
  • The indifference of the USC players, with a lame duck coaching staff. If Oregon State can take out USC in the Coliseum, the Buffs can win in Folsom (36%, 86 Votes)
  • The motivation of the CU players. Getting back home, with a chip on their shoulder with an 0-14 all-time record against USC, the Buffs will be properly motivated (21%, 48 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
