Antonio Alfano transfers to Independence Community College (Kansas). Thoughts?
  • All the best to him. Here's hoping that he can get his physical problems under control, and get something out of the game after all (maybe even come back to CU?) (59%, 141 Votes)
  • Independence is one of those "Last Chance U" schools, and that seems appropriate here. The former No. 5 overall prospect in the nation is now on his third school - this is truly his last chance (27%, 65 Votes)
  • Glad to have this saga behind us. The highest-ranked recruit in CU history, and never even got on the sidelines, much less a game. Guess you can't miss what you never had ... What might have been ... (14%, 32 Votes)

CU Athletics Giving Day generates over $150,000 from almost 500 donors. Thoughts?
  • Excellent news! Set a goal of $100,000 in a day, and raise over 150% of your goal - hard not to be excited about the news. Well done, Buff Nation! (57%, 71 Votes)
  • Never going to say anything bad about a six-figure fund-raiser, but the CU athletic department is facing an $18-$20 million deficit, so this is just a feel good drop-in-the-bucket (27%, 33 Votes)
  • I'm glad to see that some 500 donors got involved in a single day event (just wish I could have donated enough to claim one of the pretty cool rewards which were offered) (16%, 20 Votes)

Which quote about your Buffs gives you the most optimism about the 2021 season?
  • Karl Dorrell on Brendon Lewis: "He looks very, very confident ... Very, very poised in the pocket" (50%, 133 Votes)
  • Linebacker Nate Landman: "The rehab is going better than I thought ... maybe even a month ahead of schedule" (26%, 69 Votes)
  • Karl Dorrell on Terrance Lang: "He's lapping the defensive linemen ... He runs like a deer. We think he's going to be fantastic" (24%, 62 Votes)

Which quote about freshman cornerback Christian Gonzalez gives you the most optimism about his future?
  • Karl Dorrell: "He’s being more aggressive in coverage and you can feel his presence out there on the field a little bit more. Players out there actually see it, too. He’s on the right path" (41%, 83 Votes)
  • Karl Dorrell: “We’re hoping somewhere down the line, he’s going to be one of those corners that can handle his own and not really have much safety help. … I think he’s embraced that challenge" (40%, 80 Votes)
  • Gonzalez: “I do feel more confident ... The game has slowed down a lot. Way more than going into last season out of high school, but it’s great" (19%, 38 Votes)

Should CU be ranked in the "Way Too Early" 2021-22 men's basketball Top 25 projections?
  • Probably should be, but won't. Just like Wilner's Top 25 (which includes five Pac-12 teams, but not CU), the Buffs will be excluded. Respect will have to be earned (again) next year (56%, 133 Votes)
  • No. Until or unless a replacement is found for McKinley Wright (the transfer portal still being an option), the Buffs will be on the outside looking in when it comes to national recognition (24%, 56 Votes)
  • Yes! The Buffs finished third in the Pac-12 this year (which, um, turned out to be a pretty good conference), and have a Top 15 Recruiting Class coming in. (20%, 47 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
