Colorado opens as a 29.0-point underdog at home against No. 8 Oregon. Thoughts?
  • Oregon has scored at least 40 points in every game since the opener, and CU struggles to get to double digits. Take Oregon, give the points, and don't overthink it (50%, 116 Votes)
  • I'm just embarrassed that this is an actual line (though Ohio State is giving 36 points on the road against Northwestern). It's going to be a long month (41%, 95 Votes)
  • Oregon does have a great offense, but has a mediocre defense. I can see the Ducks winning the game easily, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Buffs cover (9%, 21 Votes)

Arizona State 42, Colorado 34. Thoughts?
  • It was nice to see some fight in these Buffs. Despite being down over 20 points in the fourth quarter, they kept playing, and finally got past the 20-point scoring ceiling (43%, 113 Votes)
  • So ... ASU was averaging 353 yards of offense per game, and had 327 at halftime. Hide the women and children when this defense "faces" the offenses of Oregon and USC the next two weekends (36%, 93 Votes)
  • Thanks for stopping by - Drive carefully on the way home. Colorado lost its last best chance at a victory. A 1-11 embarrassment of a season is now secured. Bring on Tad Boyle & Co.! (21%, 54 Votes)

It's time! Your prediction for Colorado v. Arizona State (Saturday, 5:30 p.m., MT, ESPNU)
  • This is it! Homecoming, with a beatable opponent. The Buffs will be charged for this game, and the crowd - and the defense - will carry the Buffs to victory! (37%, 68 Votes)
  • A decent chance at a victory, but I'm not sure if the Buffs have what it takes to pull out another victory without help from the Sun Devils. A close loss ... but a loss nonetheless (32%, 59 Votes)
  • CU has played seven games, with six duds and one unexpected victory. Odds are we are going to see the "normal" Buffs instead of the "extraordinary" Buffs. The line is about two TDs - ASU to cover (31%, 58 Votes)

Which of the following double-digit Pac-12 underdogs (not named CU) has the best chance at a win this weekend?
  • Stanford (+16.5) at No. 12 UCLA. The Bruins will be down after their loss to the Ducks, and Stanford has won two straight. The Cardinal will at least keep it close (65%, 99 Votes)
  • No. 10 USC at Arizona (+15.5). The Trojans aren't as good as they think they are, and the Wildcats will be primed at Homecoming after a bye week (31%, 47 Votes)
  • Cal (+17.0) at home against No. 8 Oregon. The Ducks will be looking past the Bears to their showdown with the Buffs (just kidding). Could be a let down spot for Oregon (4%, 6 Votes)

Colorado men's basketball team picked by the Pac-12 media to finish sixth. Thoughts?
  • Nothing to see here. CU teams under Tad Boyle are annually underrated. The Buffs have won 20+ games four years in a row, and will again this year (63%, 125 Votes)
  • Sounds about right. Without Evan Battey and Jabari Walker, and no height inside, it's going to be tough for the Buffs to compete for a Pac-12 title (21%, 42 Votes)
  • I have no idea. I'll keep tabs on the Buffs in non-conference (and the first two Pac-12 games in December), then get interested once CU's new football coach is revealed (16%, 31 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
