Three weeks from the start of the 2024 season, rate your level of confidence CU will be a bowl team in 2024
  • Medium. The schedule is tough, with no easy outs. CU will be competitive in each game, but could lose their fair share. Getting to six wins and a bowl is a reasonable expectation (51%, 116 Votes)
  • High. The roster has been improved, especially along the lines. Pundits don't understand how good this team has gotten. CU is bowl bound ... and may compete for more (38%, 87 Votes)
  • Low. In every non-conference game, the Buffs are playing a team treating their game as their Super Bowl, and CU must played all five of the Big 12 ranked teams. I'm thinking 4-8 or 5-7 (11%, 25 Votes)

Nebraska official: “Iowa’s more of a model at Nebraska than Ohio State is ... You’ve got to be realistic. At some point, you’ve got to not be delusional". Thoughts?
  • I just wonder if there is some internal investigation going on in Lincoln to determine who this "Nebraska official" is ... If they are found out, they'll be run out of Lincoln on a rail (46%, 75 Votes)
  • Love it! It's great to see someone at Nebraska realize that it's not the 1990s anymore, and that the Cornhuskers, without a conference title since 1999, are not a national power (36%, 59 Votes)
  • It's fair for Nebraska to start with trying to be Iowa, but that window has closed. The easier path to the Big Ten title game (by winning the Big Ten West Division) is gone for good (18%, 29 Votes)

Jordan Seaton on CU: "I actually thought this place was actually going to be really, really bad ... So it’s like, you know, I thought I was taking a risk". Thoughts?
  • The quote shouldn't be taken out of context. Seaton also said: "Everything has just exceeded expectation from the littlest things to the biggest things for me ... We actually have a great facility" (65%, 128 Votes)
  • Nothing to see here. This is a 19-year old freshman, and he will develop media filters as he gets older. Seaton wasn't wrong: CU is well behind Big 2 schools in areas of addressing player needs (30%, 60 Votes)
  • Not a good look for CU's No. 1 high school recruit (who took several official visits to CU before committing) to be saying that he thought CU was going to be way behind SEC and Big Ten schools (5%, 10 Votes)

Colorado among the teams in the "others receiving votes" in preseason USA Today coaches' poll. Thoughts?
  • Nice to see the Buffs getting some recognition from other coaches. Not bad for a team which went 4-8 last season, and enters the season on a six-game losing streak (50%, 76 Votes)
  • Just two votes, so not much to be excited about. If you count the five ranked Big 12 teams, and the four others which received more votes ... CU is 10th in the Big 12 in votes. Not great (27%, 41 Votes)
  • I'm just glad to note that Coach Prime is not among the coaches voting in the poll, so at least CU's votes didn't come from our own coach voting the Buffs as the No. 23 team (23%, 35 Votes)

Are you concerned that North Dakota State will bring seven FCS Preseason All-Americans to Boulder on August 29th?
  • It's worthy of note, especially that the quarterback, Cam Miller, is a second-team All-American. A few good players can make a difference in a close game, and CU needs to be ready (47%, 112 Votes)
  • Yes. It just goes to show how talented North Dakota State is that the Bison have not only seven preseason All-Conference players, but seven preseason All-Americans. Look past NDSU at your own risk (41%, 98 Votes)
  • No. Being a preseason All-American at the FCS level is not the same as preseason All-American at the FBS level. If you are worried about NDSU, then you have no confidence in your Buffs (12%, 27 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
