Nate Landman named Second-Team All Pac-12 by the conference coaches ... but no other Buff makes either of the first two teams. Thoughts?
  • Congratulations to Mr. Landman. The first Buff to earn All Pac-12 honors all four years, it's a testament to his talent that he was second-team despite playing only seven games (51%, 140 Votes)
  • I guess there is some consolation that six of the eight Buffs who earned honorable mention honors will be back on the roster next year. Something to build on (26%, 73 Votes)
  • Sad commentary that Landman was the only player to receive even second-team honors. Shows how far this team has to go to get back to respectability (23%, 63 Votes)

Which news story of the day for you was the most "eyebrow raising"?
  • That, for the second time in four years, Oregon lost a head coach to a Florida school (Taggart to Florida State in 2017; Cristobal to Miami in 2021). Nike U ... a stepping stone job? (43%, 127 Votes)
  • That CSU was able to lure away Nevada's Jay Norvall. Yes, it was for more money, but a lateral move in the MWC at best (and did Norvall see CSU's balance sheet ... and attendance numbers?) (41%, 121 Votes)
  • That ESPN is predicting the Pac-12 will go 1-5 in bowl games ... with the only winner being - wait for it - Washington State over Miami in the Sun Bowl. Another embarrassing bowl year for the Pac-12 (16%, 48 Votes)

Other than the Rose Bowl (Utah v. Ohio State) and Alamo Bowl (Oregon v. Oklahoma), which Pac-12 bowl game for you holds the most interest?
  • Las Vegas Bowl: Arizona State (8-4) v. Wisconsin (8-4). Badger fans will invade Vegas, and ASU has exactly one win all season over a team with a winning record (44%, 93 Votes)
  • Holiday Bowl: UCLA (8-4) v. North Carolina State (9-3). Bruins get a distinct home field advantage, but the Wolfpack have wins over pretenders Clemson, Florida State and North Carolina (38%, 79 Votes)
  • Los Angeles Bowl: Oregon State (7-5) v. Utah State (10-3). Beavers are improved, but get a tough draw against the MWC Champion Aggies (11%, 24 Votes)
  • Sun Bowl: Washington State (7-5) v. Miami (7-5). Trivia question: Which team has to travel further to El Paso? (Answer: Miami - 1,900 miles v. 1,500 miles from Pullman) (7%, 14 Votes)

Buffs lose their second straight game to a ranked team, falling 69-54 at home to No. 13 Tennessee. Thoughts?
  • A dozen turnovers in the first half turned a close game into a ten-point halftime deficit, and the Buffs are not mature enough to recover from such a deficit against a quality team (45%, 101 Votes)
  • Lucky for the Buffs and their fans, CU has three easier games to figure things before Kansas comes to town (and I hope they do!) (32%, 71 Votes)
  • This just in: CU is not going to be very good this year. The Buffs struggle with turnovers on offense, and opponents drive on Battey until he gets into foul trouble. It's going to be a long season (23%, 52 Votes)

Buffs taking on No. 13 Tennessee (Saturday, noon, FS1). Thoughts?
  • I just hope that the CU students realize this is a noon start, and will be there for the Buffs. If CU is to pull off the upset, a fast start before a loud crowd is critical (41%, 62 Votes)
  • This is a Buff team which struggled to beat Montana State, Duquesne, and Brown. This is a good young team, but this season will see the Buffs losing to better teams (35%, 54 Votes)
  • I have a good feeling about this. The Buffs recovered on the road against a Final Four favorite in UCLA. A win at home over a good Volunteer team would make a statement (24%, 37 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
