CU picks up four transfers through the Portal on Sunday, including two defensive linemen. Thoughts?
  • Another great day to be a Buff. Two much needed defensive linemen, with three of the four new Buffs having four- or five-star ratings in their careers. Is this CU we're talking about? (61%, 196 Votes)
  • Glad to get the two defensive linemen, but neither of them have seen much playing time .... I hope that both will live up to their potential, and not live up to what they have produced so far (31%, 98 Votes)
  • Always glad to welcome new Buffs, but the two-star QB from Vanderbilt doesn't seem to fit the need for a backup with experience ... and another four-star WR? Love 'em, but there are other needs (8%, 25 Votes)

CU picks up a commitment from Liberty defensive back Preston Hodge. Thoughts?
  • An experienced defensive back with high grades and an impressive offer sheet from Power Five schools. I like it - welcome to the Black-and-Gold, Mr. Hodge! (55%, 102 Votes)
  • CU is limited in the number of available scholarships, and we're still waiting for experienced help along the defensive front. Hope this is a good use of a scarce resource. In Prime we trust! (30%, 56 Votes)
  • Went the JUCO route out of high school, and then very few offers before he landed at Liberty. I'm sure he's going to add quality depth to the defensive backfield, but not sure much more than that (15%, 29 Votes)

CU picks up commitments from twin brothers Keaten Wade (Edge) and Destin Wade (Quarterback). Thoughts?
  • Hmm ... Let's see. A four-star edge rusher with two years experience against SEC competition, and a four-star quarterback to back up Shedeur. Love these commits! (68%, 194 Votes)
  • I'm seeing Keaten making an immediate impact, but I'm not as sure about Destin. But if it's a package deal, I'm in, as these are two positions of need (17%, 48 Votes)
  • I'm not sure how many scholarships that CU has to work with, but for me this is a weekend about defense, so I'm hoping no more commits from the offensive side of the ball between now and Signing Day (15%, 44 Votes)

Which position would you most like to see bolstered this weekend as CU coaches turn their attention to the defensive side of the ball?
  • Defensive tackle. If you don't have a run stopper in the middle of the line, everything else gets difficult. If you have a beast in the middle, other defenders are freed up to make plays (57%, 178 Votes)
  • Linebacker. Perhaps the weakest unit on the defense. The unit which needs the most improvement is in the middle of the defense, both in run support and defending the short pass (29%, 90 Votes)
  • Edge rushers. If you can get after the quarterback, you can change an opponent's game plan. CU really needs some beasts to sign on and step up (14%, 44 Votes)

CU picks up a commitment from graduate transfer guard Matthew Bedford from Indiana. Thoughts?
  • Really, really like this pick up. A four-year starter with experience everywhere on the line except center, and has is coming with a teammate, Kahlil Benson. One side of the line already in place? (55%, 143 Votes)
  • CU is now up to 17 scholarship offensive lineman. A huge upgrade in the roster in just a week. How long before critics start wondering if CU has too many offensive linemen? (30%, 78 Votes)
  • Last year, we had two teammates who came in from Kent State (who came with their line coach and OC), and, well, that didn't work out so well. Fingers crossed this pair will be better (15%, 38 Votes)

  1. Stuart:

I like the question about SS’s negative coverage. Personally, I think the see-saw coverage is mostly about “stirring the pot” and/or getting clicks. SS is this year’s draft soap opera–a love/hate fest For one negative story there is a more positive one. Some stories are just hit jobs (anonymous NFL assistant/exec), others just cover every minutia of his life. Yesterday, Kiper has him still going early.

SS is an intriguing draftee warranting discussion, however the extensive overall coverage on every detail for one QB prospect seems over the top. NFL teams have their draft boards, needs, and evaluations and they make decisions based upon that. I’ll be glad when SS and TH are picked today and the focus will be on our team.

  2. The Buffs need to wear the silver and gold that are the official school colors. Black jerseys are OK as the’ve been around for a long time, but out with the black helmets–and the white ones too. Gold helmets with silver pants, alternating with silver helmets and gold pants would be good. Nix on all black and all white!!

  3. Stuart, your polls are so thoughtful and on point. Appreciate you doing this and sharing it with your CUAtTheGame community.

  4. Wouldn’t mind the Cheez-It Bowl at all, as I have connections at Kellogg’s (owns Cheez-it) who could get me tickets!! Is that Cheezy??? 🙂
