Sisyphus

//posted 10.12.2015

Most people know the story of Sisyphus.

Sisyphus is known to history as the former King of Corinth, who, according to Greek mythology, was condemned to spend eternity pushing a boulder up a hill, only to have the boulder roll back to the bottom of the hill.

For over ten years, the Colorado football program has been the Power Five conference equivalent of Sisyphus.

The Buffs – and their fans – have been condemned to push the boulder uphill towards restoration of their program, only to have the boulder drop back down to the bottom, forcing the Buffs – and their fans – to start all over again.

Doc Brown and Marty McFly would have been proud.

Hell, we even had enough lightning at Folsom Field for the Colorado/Oregon game to generate 1.21 gigawatts of electricity.

In the movie, Back to the Future II, Doc, Marty, and Marty’s girlfriend, Jennifer (who was different from the actress who played Jennifer in the first movie, though we were not supposed to notice) take off in the Delorean, leaving 1985 for 2015 so that Marty and Jennifer can save their children from a terrible future.

The date the trio travels to … October 21, 2015.

So, the movie was a little bit off in terms of dates, as the Colorado Buffalo program went “Back to the Future” Saturday night in Boulder, trying to turn October 3, 2015, into September 14, 1985.

Crooked Numbers

//posted 9.28.2015

“Crooked Numbers” refers baseball term for a number higher than one that has been placed on the line score as a result of a run being scored during a half inning. Even in a game which ends 5-3, there are going to be more “0’s” and “1’s” (mostly “0’s”) posted on the scoreboard tally of inning by inning results.

The relevance to your Colorado Buffaloes?

In the past decade, in both reality and perception, the CU football program has been posting way too many “0’s”.

Now, for at least the non-conference portion of the 2015 season, the Buffs have been posting some “crooked numbers”.

A Matter of Trust

//posted 9.20.2015

One of the themes for the University of Colorado football team for the 2015 season is “Trust”.

Players received t-shirts during Fall Camp with “Trust” on them, and the coaches have been preaching the mantra for months.

Buff players have been implored to trust the player next to them, to trust the coaches, to trust the game plan. Do your job; trust the man next to you that he is doing his.
