— September 4th – at Denver           Colorado State 41, No. 14 Colorado 14 — “Return to Dominance” would have to be put on hold. Ruining Gary Barnett’s debut as head coach, the Colorado State Rams routed the 14th-ranked Buffs, 41-14, in a game that was not even as close as the score indicated. Colorado committed six turnovers, four of which led directly to CSU points, as the Rams rolled to a 28-0 halftime lead before cruising to the biggest win over the Buffs since a 39-7 win way back in 1927. …

  Preseason – 1999 For Colorado to be successful in 1999, a number of players would have to rise above their 1998 performances. Mike Moschetti would return at quarterback, and was primed to have a banner year. Including the Aloha Bowl, Moschetti had 2,334 yards passing in 1998, with 19 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. — National and Big 12 Recap – 1999 — With an undefeated campaign in 1999, the Florida State Seminoles claimed the title of “Team of the 90’s”. The Seminoles rang in the 2000’s with a 46-29 win over previously unbeaten Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.
