The Ticker

The video from the recruiting luncheon is available at the BuffsTV website, with a link to that website and video here.

9:15 a.m. – The CU recruiting Class of 2013 is likely complete. Quarterback Sefo Liufau has faxed in his Letter of Intent, the last player on the verbal commitment list to confirm his intent to wear the black-and-gold (it wasn’t due to any wavering on Liufau’s part, he was always a very strong commit for CU. It was just a matter of geography – Liufau’s from Washington – and the young man wanting to sign his LOI at a school ceremony).

The CU Class is 20 strong. That number includes offensive lineman John Lisella, who will count against the Class of 2014 as a grayshirt, as well as early enrollee Markeis Reed and San Jose 2012 grayshirt linebacker Addison Gillam.

9:10 a.m. – Wide receiver Devin Ross has also made it official.

9:00 a.m. – It’s a daily double!! Defensive back Tedric Thompson has also become a CU Buff! Make it two-for-two on uncommitteds on Signing Day!

8:50 a.m. – First new news of the day! Defensive back Chidobe Awuzie has become a CU Buff!

8:45 a.m. – Offensive lineman Colin Sutton the latest new Buff.

8:35 a.m. – The addition of wide receiver Bryce Bobo makes it a baker’s dozen for the morning – 13 new Buffs in all!

8:30 a.m. – Offensive lineman John Lisella (who will grayshirt, and be a part of the CU Class of 2014), and wide receiver Elijah Dunston have now joined the CU family!

8:25 a.m. – Are we having fun yet? Additions of running back Michael Adkins and defensive end/linebacker Jimmie Gilbert make it an even ten new Buffs!

8:20 a.m. – The addition of defensive back Ryan Severson makes it eight signed Letters of Intent already this morning!

8:15 a.m. – Add linebacker George Frazier to the list!

8:10 a.m. – Linebacker/athlete Kenneth Olugbode added to the CU roster …

7:50 a.m. – Thought I’d be getting started at 8:00 a.m. … but the Class is already one-third filled!

7:30 a.m. – Two more Buffs in the fold … offensive lineman Jonathan Huckins and defensive lineman Timothy Coleman.

7:20 a.m. – Getting started early! In addition to linebacker Markeis Reed, who enrolled at CU this spring, and linebacker Addison Gillam, who was a San Jose gray-shirt from the Class of 2012, running back Phillip Lindsay and offensive lineman Sam Kronshage are already in the fold as new Buffs!

(7:00 p.m. – February 5th) – For those of you familiar with Signing Day coverage at CU at the Game, you know that the Ticker will be updated continuously throughout the day on Wednesday, with updates time-stamped on the front page of the website. With the time-stamp, you can check in at your convenience, and know at a glance if there is new information about the CU recruitng Class of 2013.

In addition, with each new confirmed Buff, there will be posted, under a new article heading, “Class of 2013 – Signed LOI“, updated and expanded bios of each new Colorado Buff.

Most of the action will take place between 8:00 and 11:00 tomorrow morning, but there will also be two announcements Buff fans will be tracking. Chidobe Awuzie will be announcing his choice of schools at 12:00 (MT) at a Signing Day ceremony at his school. Later in the afternoon, at 4:00 p.m. (MT) Tedric Thompson will be making his choice known at a FOX Sports West Signing Day ceremony at the Rose Bowl. There is a chance that their decisions may be known before the official announcements, but as of right now, the Buff Nation will just have to wait.

There will also be a press conference with Coach MacIntyre (usually around 3:00 p.m.), at which time the Class (or at least what has been confirmed by Letters of Intent to that point) will be introduced. Of course, there will be detailed coverage here at CU at the Game of the press conference, so I hope you’ll be able to check in for updates.

Enjoy Signing Day!

  1. Great job Stuart…. thanks for enriching my recent experience as a die-hard fan (since 1952) and helping keep my interest up during this last decade. Let’s hope the alumni and donors realize the potential with Coach Mike and his staff, crawl out of the cracks and open their wallets. (I hate saying “Mac”… it reminds me of the last one and left a bad taste in my mouth with his race insinuations after the firing of Embo.)

  2. The future depends on how the staff can accelerate the ability of the class and individual players. Q: How can a recruiting service (Rivals & Scout) differentiate between a kid (say a linebacker) who is 6’3″, 230 lbs., runs a 4.6-40 and another kid with the same stats, saying one is a 4* rated the 26th best at his position and another as a 2* rated as 141st best. You can’t measure a kid’s motivation and willingness to buy into a coach’s philosophy and the coach’s ability to motivate players. This is where I think Coach Mc (not “Mac II”…. let’s forget the 1st one.) and his staff will excel and make a difference… along with the benefits of the new conditioning staff.

I am stoked and I can’t wait until Spring Ball gives us the opportunity to see the team on the field, something the former coach denied us. Sorry Embo’ you just didn’t have the marketing skills to know how to generate excitement within the alumni, the monetary contributors, the fan base and the media.

  3. Thanks for the updates. I’ve enjoyed checking the website throughout the morning while sitting in my office.

Better days are ahead for Buff fans!

    GO BUFFS!

  4. Well getting Thompson and Awuzie makes this about as good a class as we could have hoped. Lets hope Mac found some guys who can play in his system. I am very glad my job success does not rely on evaluating the abilities of 17 year old’s. Now the real work of turning kids into men and ball players (in that order) begins.
