— September 9, 2006 – at Denver           Colorado State 14, Colorado 10 — Colorado State quarterback Caleb Haine ran for one touchdown and passed for another, leading the Rams to a 14-10 win over Colorado in the Rocky Mountain Showdown in Denver. The contest, in which the two teams went for less than 400 yards of total offense combined, broke CU’s three-game winning streak in the series.   — October 1st – at Oklahoma State           Colorado 34, Oklahoma State 0 — Posting a shutout for the second time in three games, the Colorado defense led the way to a surprisingly easy 34-0 romp over Oklahoma State in Stillwater. The Buffs held the Cowboys to only 208 yards in total offense, posting a second shutout in a season since the 1991 and 1992 Buffs accomplished the same feat.   December 28th – Alamo Bowl           Wisconsin 31, No. 14 Colorado 28 – OT Sophomore kicker Mike Allen connected from 37 yards out to lift the Wisconsin Badgers to a 31-28 overtime win over Colorado in the Alamo Bowl. Allen’s kick capped a fourth quarter rally by the Badgers, who won for the seventh time in eight bowl games under head coach Barry Alverez. — September 30th – Boulder           No. 5 Kansas State 44, Colorado 21 — Kansas State quarterback Jonathan Beasley combined for 361 yards of total offense as the 5th-ranked Wildcats humbled the winless Colorado Buffaloes, 44-21. Beasley hit on 15-of-25 passes for 293 yards and three scores as Kansas State raced to a 13-0 lead five minutes into the contest and never looked back.
