Committed May 25th … Kelly-Murray is a 5’10”, 170-pound wide receiver from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina … 247 Sports bioOn3Sports/Rivals bio

What others say about Kelly-Murray … Kelly-Murray is rated as a four-star prospect by On3/Rivals, and a high three-star prospect by 247 Sports. At On3Sports/Rivals, Kelly-Murray is listed as the No. 30 wide receiver prospect in the nation, the No. 4 prospect overall out of the state of South Carolina, and the No. 193 player in the nation. At  247 Sports, Kelly-Murray is ranked as the No. 38 wide receiver in the country, the No. 6 player out of South Carolina, and the No. 304 prospect overall in the nation.

Before transferring to Oceanside Collegiate Academy, Kelly-Murray enjoyed a big junior season at Summerville — also located in South Carolina. There, he caught 64 passes for 957 yards and 14 touchdowns last fall. The year prior saw Kelly-Murray total 1,202 receiving yards and 13 scores.

  • High-volume slot weapon who can also provide return game value.
  • Three-phase experience at multiple receiver spots, the secondary, and returns.
  • Highly productive with more than 150 receptions across sophomore and junior seasons.
  • Uses sudden acceleration and speed-mixing nuance to create space.
  • Capable of finding some extra juice downfield when needed.
  • Projects to the P4 level as an eventual starter with big-play ability who could become an impactful weapon, especially if deployed with a clear vision.

Kelly-Murray had other offers from … dozens of schools from all over the country. From the Power Four conferences, his offers came in from Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Florida, Kansas State, Kentucky, Penn State, North Carolina, Wisconsin and West Virginia. Kelly-Murray’s final four were CU, Illinois, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

In his own words … “I love my connection with the wide receivers coach (Jason Phillips) and the GM (David Kelly) of Colorado football,” Kelly-Murray told 247 Sports. “We talk every day and they call me all the time. It really shows that they care about me and want me to be a part of their program.

“When I committed to South Carolina, originally, it’s less than two hours from where I live. Going to Colorado, I feel like I can grow as a person and feel uncomfortable and get outside of my comfort zone. I’ll be doing things that I’ve never done before.”

Li’Marcus Jones – OT

Committed May 24th … Jones is a 6’5″, 300-pound offensive lineman from Brentwood, Tennessee … 247 Sports bioOn3Sports/Rivals bio

What others say about Jones … Jones is rated as a four-star prospect by both 247 Sports and On3Sports/Rivals. At 247 Sports, Jones is listed as the No. 22 offensive tackle prospect in the nation, the No. 7 player out of Tennessee, and the No. 171 prospect overall in the country. 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins on Jones:

  • Physically-gifted offensive line prospect that could hit big after a developmental period.
  • Owns valuable two-way snaps and has repped at both tackle spots.
  • Shines as a drive blocker as he fires out of stance and creates easy force.
  • Will need to buy into the process at the college of his choice after multiple high school transfers, but has a higher ceiling given how he moves at his size.

Jones had other offers from … over two dozen Power Four conference schools, including Georgia, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Alabama and Oklahoma. Jones visited Purdue in April and was scheduled to check out Mississippi State in June. Kentucky and Florida State were also linked to Jones throughout his recruitment.

In his own words … “It was very close,” Jones told Rivals. “Once I narrowed it down to my final three, they were all coming at me hard. Purdue was leading earlier after my official visit there, but after I visited Colorado, things started to change.

“Colorado just felt different when I was out there. The connections I built with the coaching staff were real, and I could truly see myself fitting into the culture and the system.”

Offensive line assistant coach Gunnar White also played a major role in the commitment. Jones built a strong relationship with White throughout the process, especially because of their Mississippi connection.

“That’s a bond you can never break,” he said. “A lot of people don’t know this, but he is from Mississippi, like I am. That is a connection that makes us strong. I have that trust in him.”

Rasmussen had other offers from … a half dozen other Power Four conference schools, including instate Utah, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Washington. Rasmussen had official visits lined up with Oregon State and Utah before committing to Colorado.

In his own words … How was your official visit to Boulder? “It was super cool. It’s beautiful over there,” Rasmussen told BuffInsider.com. The mountains are sweet, they’re right up there against the stadium. The coaches, everybody feels like family. Everybody there was welcoming, and I got along with everybody. I listened to everybody’s stories of how they got there, and you could tell that it’s a good place to be.”

What ultimately sold you on the Buffs? “Honestly, it was the coaches. The plan development-wise that they had for me and the experience that all the coaches have had between either the NFL, the UFL or college, it’s an all-around great experience. I feel like I could go in there and develop and come out better than when I went in.”

Jenkins had other offers from … over two dozen Power Four conference schools, including Penn State, Michigan, Georgia, Indiana, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, USC, West Virginia and SMU. Jenkins had been committed to Penn State, and had official visits lined up for June at Georgia, Virginia Tech, Pitt, and Michigan, but cancelled them after visiting Colorado in mid-May.

In his own words … “It was on my official visit this past weekend that I knew,” Jenkins told Rivals.com after his commitment. “They were showing so much love. So many coaches have been recruiting me, they spent a lot of time with me on the visit, and it is just different out there. I was with Coach Vonn [Bell], Coach Rich, Coach Box, Deion Sanders — it is a great staff,” he said. “Coach Prime is a good coach and kept it real with me. He was great to talk to, and he is a great coach, but the assistant coaches were so big in my decision.

Andre Adams – QB

Committed April 14th … Adams is a 6’2″, 180-pound quarterback from Nashville, Tennessee … 247 Sports bioOn3Sports/Rivals bio

At 247 Sports, Adams is listed as the No. 15 quarterback in the nation, the No. 8 player overall out of the state of Tennessee, and the No. 173 prospect overall in the nation. From Andrew Ivins at 247 Sports … Elastic dual-threat quarterback with natural playmaking ability that looks destined to play in an RPO-heavy attack with his athleticism. Constantly extends plays with his legs as he dances away from pressure and buys himself time. Dangerous in the red zone as he can beat defenders to the pylon with his speed.
Far from a complete product, but flashes have been extremely encouraging as he gets ready to embark on his senior campaign. Projects as a potential starter at the Power Four level with plenty of redeeming qualities

Adams had other offers from … at least two dozen Power Four conference schools, including Oregon, Auburn, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Michigan State, and Wisconsin. Adams final four were Colorado, Florida State, Kentucky and Virginia Tech.

In his own words … “I want to be somewhere honest,” Adams told Rivals in January. “Somewhere I feel like I belong. I’m a big relationships guy. How coaches talk to me, how honest they are, and how they treat me really matters. I want to be around people who are going to develop me as a man and as a quarterback.

On the smaller side, but tested very well at The Opening Miami in advance of senior year and flashed during an extended 1-on-1 session.  Got looks around the secondary as a junior and should offer similar versatility in college, but ceiling might be highest in the nickel. Projects as a potential multi-year starter at the Power Four level.

Dericho had other offers from … over a dozen FBS schools, including Power Four schools like Florida State, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Pitt, and UCF.

In his own words … “It’s Deion Sanders. He’s the best to do it,” Dericho told 247 Sports. “Out of all of my offers, he was the person who pushed me the most. He texts me every day. He calls me every day. He cares about me. I’m with that. He checks up on me. I really, really mess with that.”

12 Replies to “Recruiting Class of 2027”

  1. Has the timing and dates changed for committing? Or is it just me? Don’t get me wrong, I love that HS kids are being recruited and committing vs an influx of 75% transfers. But it just seems weird all the commiting in May…

    1. I think it’s two things. First, with Signing Day moved up to December, players are taking advantage of the quiet period in the sport to take their official visits and make their commitments.
Second, CU has picked up six commitments in a week … pretty heady stuff for the Buff Nation, which has grown used to getting only 12-15 commitments for the year.

    1. I only had a few interactions with Adam over the year, but he was a definitely nice guy. He was very professional in his work. He was supportive of CU without being a homer – which is a difficult line to straddle.

  2. The next class is shaping up nicely. As usual though we may have to wait for quite a while before we see any highly rated O linemen

  3. A headline in the Buffzone reminded me about Cam Newton so I looked as his stats and highlights both which were impressive. I guess his size and level of competition left him out of any scout service rankings. If fall practice is as closely guarded as spring’s I will have to wait for the games to see if he makes it up the depth chart. Same height and 10 lbs heavier than Edwards.

  4. Love the early 2027 QB commit……but, here is the way I see it. Next fall before signing day, some Big10/SEC team either doesn’t have a legit QB commit, or loses a QB commit, they come looking at Colorado’s QB and knowing CU doesn’t have the same resources they start bidding up NIL money until it becomes too much to resist and our QB vanishes. Am I being too pessimistic?

    1. Way too pessimistic! It’s more likely they’d poach this year’s starter than next year’s freshman recruit. But that won’t happen either. Ya gotta believe!

      Go Buffs

    2. If the Buffs dont win at the very least 7 games, and get a little more money in hand thats exactly what will happen. One roblem with that is Lewis might have a great year and be gone too.
      Hows zat for pessimism…..or reality?

  5. Great! So how about doing the same thing but with offensive and defensive linemen? Heck, they got the top tackle in the nation with Seaton and then stopped. Why?

  6. Wait, what?! Deion is still recruiting good players? How is that possible?!

Yeah. I know. 2027 is a llloooong way away. But the fact that talented kids are looking at CU, especially two years out, remains massive progress.

    Go Buffs
